Two Problems

I am on my third MK VIII (presently own a 98) and I love the cars. I have had to replace the drivers side door handle on all three that I have owned and on my last two the winshield washer botton (at the end of the directional) broke for no reason. I debated with Lincoln but got no-where. They claim that they did not hear of these problems from any other owners. Am I the only one that has these problems.

hey bad guy..
i have a 98 lsc, blk n blk, and mee too had to replace the driver door handel.
hmm it was around febuary when it broke...thinkin that maybe the cold weather had something to do with it.
anyways...the thing is that the metal thats used is a soft metal.
i had and 89, and 88...and had no peroblems with those.
i think it just cheap metal used.
hmm the wiper...no problems there yet!


hmm, since you have the 98 too...do u have blinkin goin on..with the neon rear middle light ..for example..you have the auto light on right..and you park...(at night..you'd see this)and say you walk around to the rear of the car...as the lights are still on...a fluttry blink would happen on the middle neon light.
can't figure y this is happenin.

No problem lscgoddess with my 98 but I had a 97 that had what seemed to be a leak in the middle set of lights and they did flutter.

Not sure why your washer button wouldn't work, that's a standard Ford part that you can replace or get from a Taurus or something.

I broke a door handle on my 1993, poorly adjusted door and possible body damage from the previous owner. I got a new $15 door striker from Ford (that thing that the door latches onto when you close it) I installed it in my driveway, and adjusted it about 5 times and got the door to close nicely. Door handle opens the door quickly and with little effort.

Things are better now. That's my suggestion to you. :D

I haven't had any problems with the door handle and my car was not exactly pampered prior to my ownership. I took the door apart because there was accident damage repair (shoddy work) so that I could put it together right. When I found a set of 10" bent nose pliers in the bottom of the door, I fixed a rattle too.
Adjusting the striker is probably a good idea, I do have to put some effort into closing the door. The door on my T-Bird latches full if you blow on it.
