So that's how you get a 351 to fit in a Mark with a stock hood!

Congrats to macx (see some of his other tricks, namely the remote tranny filter article) and DaKat for making such a fantastic article for all of us.

great article !!
but from the looks of that picture i don't think a stock hood will close over the intake

Ok, so if the stock hood can't work then why does the article say and I quote, "For hood clearance, I had to cut away a lot of the thick underhood insulation mostly in the cetner of the hood, as well as snipping out or punding in some portions of the underhood bracing over the intake, throttle body/EGR plane, and the AC. Not very neat or professional, but I had very little time to get the car running." I understood that as he used the stock hood.

Mr Cason is right.

Not very pretty (but I don't run around
with the hood up :)) but it works.

That's really impressive. And you're netting almost the same fuel economy?

How does she do getting out of the hole?

Not very spectacular yet - I haven't been able to get it dyno tuned (working out of state, left just a little after I got it together and running), so I'm keeping my timing pretty conservative, also I'm sure the computer needs resetting to a substantial degree, and I don't even have the hard input shaft - going 4R instead.

All tht said, it's pretty responsive but
not a real burner out of the hole. However,
that speedo moves pretty fast all the way from stop to 100 with that torque driving it
and it's "gratifying" to have some real passing power in the mid rpm ranges! :)

I'd been having some shifting problems, finally got that figured out, now it kicks
down nicely when I step on it and gets with
the program pretty good. Not a lot of fuss
and noise, it just sets me back in the seat pretty good.

After some real muscle way back when (426 hemi belvedere sleeper, 440 6pack Challenger SE, 375hp 396 SS Camaro, etc) then having to
drive clapped out econo-boxes for toomany
years, it sure is nice to have a little "go" back under the pedal! :))))))))
