Hi,
As some of yuo guys might know, I am building a race car out of my Mark VII and I want to take the ABS system out and just convert it to a regular master cylinder because of line-lock issues and such. Has this been done before? And what master cylinder would be a direct bolt on, if any?
thanks,
wes

There are about 10 threads with the correct information, do a search for "SVO" or "Master cylinder" etc...

Basically getting a 1984 Mark Parts car would be ideal for its hydroboost master cylinder but other than that, a complete Mustang SVO swap is ideal.

so if I were to go to an auto parts store, i would just buy a master cylinder for a 84 Mustang or Mark VII? Would it be a easy swap without modifing the firewall?
thanks,
wes

84 SVO master cylinder, 87-93 booster and an adjustable prop valve for the rear brakes. Plus a little line fabbing and flaring.

Unless you just WANT to go to the extra trouble of replacing something, you can simply pull the plug to the ABS module and the system reverts to standard power braking.
The ABS simply "piggybacks" on the regular system and unplugging the module just disables it completely.
I've had mine unplugged (as a personal preference - a dislike of computers making decisions for me) for three years with no problems whatsoever.
By the way, mine is a '90 model but what research I've done indicates that it's the same for all years.
Hope this helps. smile.gif

so I can put a line lock in and just pull the ABS plug and I'll be fine?
thanks,

correct...also, converting either to vacuum or hydro will actually increase the amount of gear underhood...either dealing with a vac booster at the bulkhead or hydraulic lines with hydro....
