Well I have 140,000 miles on my car mark and the valves are clicking really bad, it sounds like someone is holding a bell around the bell and trying to ring it, pretty bad eh. I have an old pair of E7's sittin in the garage that i'm gonna have port polished and rebuilt. any advice before i do this? I have full exhaust (headers back) and i am saving up for upper and lower intake with a larger throttle. I am going to get new lifters, push rods, and rockers. Did i forget anything?

Don't get anything larger than a 65mm throttlebody. Even that is not really necessary.

I'd go for roller rockers, 1.7 is good if you have no plans for a lumpy cam in the future. Oh, and a full gasket set, of course. You got everything else right, have fun.

new seals port and polish AFB headbolts but DON'T grind the valves! if you do that the bottom end is toast in less than 50k Was me I'd at least re-bearing and re-ring

If you're rebuilding the heads, and the exhaust valves are pitted, just replace the exhaust valves. Half the time by the time you cut them to smooth again, there is no valve face left and it's just going to burn on you. The intake valves usually require little work to get the seats and face smooth again.

Inspect the cylinder walls. 302 middles hold up well. My 120k Mark VII engine still had factory crosshatch marks visible on the walls, and no noticable ring land. The bearings were somewhat another story. All of them had copper showing.

Also, I agree with Bluegrass on the timing set and oil pump. New water pump while its off too.
