I saw some 4.30 gears on ebay today and was wondering if anyone has them in thier Mark or Mustang and if so, what is your experience with this setup ?

4.30s are a pretty steep gear for the 5.0, IMO. I run 4.10s (well, RAN up until Friday night when I busted the ring gear at the track) and the car was always screamin' at 3000 RPM on the highway. Took it down to Atlanta Dragway with a few of the guys from here, and let me tell you, 12.5 hours at 3000rpm is exhausting lol :D

Bad idea on a stock Mark. You'll get close to running out of revs at the 1/4 mile (remember you cant run WOT in top gear) and you'll have serious fuel economy loss at speeds above 60mph.

Motive makes a 3.90 gearset that seems like it would be ideal, IMO.

Nope. Those hears are LONG gone - threw them out when we swapped int he 4.10s. I'm probably gonna knock it down a bit to 3.73s for when - and if - I slap a blower on the car. Always something though when I get the cash to grab one...like the rear takin' a crap. redface.gif

1.90's would be sweet for street - but 4.10 are just a tad more aggresive and worth it also.

IMHO I would never use 4.30 unless I had the updated 90+ AOD tailshaft that has improved lube feed and you would need to FORCE LUBE the tailshaft bushing also so it wouldn't burn out....that is alot of drivline RPM to handle without lube.

Not too mention stock head/spring/valve float! plus if driven on the street your top speed before you hit valve float would be like 100 tops.
