Hey Guy's it's been awhile...anyway here's the scoop...I've found somone just north of me that has a parted out turbo coupe, he say's to come up and take the swaybar out and it's yours for 40.00..so I need some tips on getting it out and instaling it in my Mark......I'm gonna go up on thur. and i'm assuming it's prob. rusted to shit so I'll bring the sawsall....should I try to keep the rubber bushings that are on the t.c,s swaybar? anything else?.....My search has found that I shouldn't get the rear so I will order the Addco one................I was also inquiring about the hood scoops but he wants to sell the whgole hood for 300.00.. he say's it's mint so I think I'll pass.....Thanx in advance....Villain

SAWZALL ?? Shouldn't be necessary. Bring LOTS of penetrant and take your time removing the frame mounts (first), then the end links. Do everything you can to get the mounts out intact... you may end up breaking one, or (yikes) stripping a bolt, but at least try to get 'em out.
Don't bother with the old rubber. New is available from Energy Suspension; get the greasable ones and modify your mounts to use their zerk. Poly is OK here if lubed. Also use new poly bushings on the end links.
That's it...

this may be a stupid question, but why were the TC swaybars better than the mark 7s? arent the TCs significantly lighter? wouldnt you be better looking for like a cobra SB?

The 87-88 turbo coupe front sway bar is larger in diameter than the Mark VII one and is a direct bolt in. The weight of the car doeesn't play into the size used in tuning a cars suspension. Mustang bars won't fit.

You need to order the center bushings for a Turbo Coupe because of the larger bar diameter. Endlinks are specific to the Continental/Mark VII so you will need to get ones for the car or the same length ones from Energy Suspension. The TRW polyurethane, "Heavy Duty" endlink bushings for the rear of the car are almost as soft as rubber ones. I swapped them out for Energy Suspension bushings. You will need to fabricate a set of brackets or buy an OE set if you break them. I think I reused my car's original brackets. Anyone know if they are the same height as the Turbo Coupe's?

Brackets are the same, bushings are different.
Bushings can be bought, brackets can't.

The nuts holding the frame brackets might be bedded in a plastic material that will break apart and allow the nut to turn.
These nuts may have spurs on them. If so use a deep socket that will fit and pound the socket with extension onto them, then they will either break the bolt or come off. Either way you win without damage to the bracket.
Note: it is not alway true that a Mustang bar won't fit. It's just not a clean bolt on without doing special mounting procedures that must be handled with care. ;)

Yeah, I knew you made a 'stang bar work, Ken. I figure that most aren't versed enough to do the fab work so better to steer them to a bolt-on solution ;)

Okay so I got the swaybar out today ...took about 15 mins.....the guy had most of the motor out so we got it out through the top of the engine bay....it was pretty rusted , had to cut the endlinks with the sawzall....the frame bracket bolts were much the same...we loosened them a bit then the bolts stripped or broke so there was enough space between the frame and brackets to stick the blade of the saw in and cut them.....I took a wire wheel to the bar and it came out pretty good, maybe some pain next...the brackets I did the same, but I think the brackets on my S.E are in much better shape so I would like to use them with t.c bushings if thats poss....I have H.D endlinks in there already that were installed 3 months ago so hopfully I can still use them......I'm gonna order the addco rear in the next week or so ...just have to price shop......What is the best route to order the t.c bushings for the brackets on the front....Ford? Does it only come in rubber? all ideas welcome ...Thanx for the help Villain

It has been said already: Energy Suspension for the TC bushing.

Made these up for the shorter ES bushing. Tacked in a 5/16 thick piece of steel and a bolt to take the zerc that came on theES piece.
