I was a member of another forum dealing with my daughters car. Trying to find answers by asking others who have the same car or engine. The same thing everyone does here. I gotta tell ya, You people do a great job of making auto idiots like myself, feel better about the car they own no matter what the problem is. The other Forum has members that would crack jokes and make rude comments to make themselves feel better about the fact that they are too stupid to answer your question. Then when you get upset, and reply negativly to their comment, without breaking the rules of the forum, they kick you out of the forum and tell you that you are being a "tool." I told them that you need "tools" to fix cars.
Any how, Good job guys!!!!

Hi Swinny

You should never feel bad or dumb about asking any question, knowledge is power and you only gain knowledge by asking questions, if you do not know the answer, ask the question, even if it's as simple as "How do I fill the washer bottle?"

Rise above the ignorance of people that poke fun at your questions, treat them with the contempt they deserve and don't dignify thier cheap jibes with a reply.

Regards

Dereck

We would be no where if people didn't ask questions. We all ask questions because we all need to know at some point. The greatest thing about learning is that it never stops at any age. Some may be stubborn and slow it down, but it never stops. We should live to learn and question the world.

I love this forum for the reasons you mentioned and more. There are so many good members here who try to help each other out, whether they live in the next town or across the globe in another country, like Dereck. There is a lot of class carried by the members of this forum and I think that's the other thing that draws us here besides the free tech help. :D

I'm just here to give Kat something to smile at occasionally. :D Ya' still owe me a drink next time I make it to your side of the country, by the by. ;)

Something else kinda fun about this board, besides the fact that for the most part our collective maturity level is greater than our shoe size (myself excluded, I'm just a hill billy redneck gearhead Fairmont lover), is that a lot of people here have knowledge that goes beyond just their particular car, and expands into different Ford products and even different brands so that if anyone has a question about even obscure cars chances are someone here will be able to at least get them pointed in the right direction.

Anyway, just my humble opinion. :D

Ah yes... the Ford Fairmont... My dad bought his Ford Fairmont Station wagon in 1977... That thing was a monster... Straight six, green paint... Thing lasted until 1997 when I was hit by a rock wall and totaled it... Still ran really well... By that time it was only running on 5 cylinders, and the transmission wouldn't shift into fourth until it warmed up, usually 15 minutes later...

I hope you still got the information you needed for your daughters car. If not, maybe we can help!

General Mustang boards will tell you your car is junk. Heck, many Mustangers refuse to believe that a 1980 Mustang is remotely similar to a 1993 model...they are pretty much wrapped up in their own little world.

And honestly, the 1980s are cooler in my book, for the sole reason that they aren't associated with the 5.0 "cult of personality" of the 1987-up ones.

We have/had people like that here and on other Lincoln forums, but they find themselves vetoed by the open mindeded folks here...many times a year, I might add.

Thank you for writing. smile.gif

Oh, and don't give up on Lincolns just because you had/have a V6 Continental, okay? ;)

I live by the saying that "There are no stupid questions, just stupid mistakes."
I tell the people here at work to ask questions because it will take me 3 seconds to answer a "stupid question", it could take all day to fix an "even more stupid mistake."

Something else to consider if you're wanting to find an actual Mustang board that has members that are typically pretty cool and insightful, check out:
http://www.foureyedpride.com

This board caters to the 4-eyed ponies of yesteryear, and the owners are in it for the cars, not the image of teenaged badass-ness.

Hey Pro, I gotta admit, I'd kill to have my '75 Mark 5 back. This thing was in mint condition on the outside. It had an upper engine fire, so I had to replace the dist. the carb. and wires and things. other then that, it needed a pass. side window motor, and a door panel. I traded a CB radio for the car ($40) and sold it for $900 for the down payment on my wife's mini van. What a screw up that was!
So i don't really dislike Lincolns as a whole. But my '91 has had problems with everything but the engine. The engine is the most reliable I've ever had. Wierd huh?
I just got majorly screwed on that deal. I've got $3400 invested in it in the past year, I know this isn't the classifieds, but $1500 takes it.
