USING THE CUP HOLDERS IN A ’92 TOWN CAR
Submitted By Dereck 03/03/2004
First off fill your pockets with a few dollars, grab your car keys and cruise on down to your favorite fast food drive thru, my personal favorite is POPEYES.
When you arrive before you enter the drive thru lane it is a good idea to activate your cup holders.
On the 92 Town Car fold down your armrest and lift open the top cover to reveal the fold out cup holder, fold out the cup holder and close the top cover, you are now ready for action.

The picture above shows the cup holder priming sequence.
Now smooch up to the speaker box/ordering window and place an order for your favorite offal, large fries and supersize soda, scoot round to the pay/collection window in eager anticipation of the culinary delights about to be delivered. Chuck the brown bag of offal onto the passengers seat for now and remove the supersize soda from that cardboard tray, take a quick slurp to whet your whistle and firmly plant it into that waiting cup holder----Mission accomplished!!!!

As you can see from the picture above I had to slum it for the purpose of the photo shoot and could only afford a regular coke, the things I do for the good of the forum.
Now very slowly exit the drive through with one hand on your soda as anything over 5 mph will send that drink flying, when on the straightaway you can relax a little reach over and grab that “everything onit burger” and take a satisfactory chunk right out of it. Luckily through a masterpiece of design Ford put the turn signals on the left of the steering wheel leaving your right hand free to lift that soda right outta the cup holder. Over the next couple of miles gradually consuming your well deserved meal you can think to yourself--- burger, fries, supersize soda in the cup holder, cruising in the Town Car, can life get any better?
ASS COVERING DISCLAIMER
I no way endorse drinking, eating, smoking, having sex or any other pleasurable activity while driving, it is unsafe-DON’T DO IT.
Happy motoring

I find that if I put a rubber band around the cup holder, they act as "rails" so the cup holder won't gor flying...
Good Tech tip though!!!

Btw - "super-sizing" at McD's is being phased out. Better chow down while you can, guys!

Hi Kat
McD did away with supersizing about 12 months ago here in the U.K, now I gotta buy two of everthing :D

LOL...they should. That would make some interesting table conversation.
Child: Mommy, what are these things?
Mommy: Oh, save that Princess. It's a drug- eluting stent and an aspirin!
You'll need that after eating this artery clogging slop.

Can't help ya'. Arizona is just a simpleton redneck state that our McDonald's only serve burgers and fries, and the occasional salad. Typically I avoid McD's all together and head for Wendy's or Jack in the Crack if I don't have my own food, or actually have a second to stop and eat something. The McD's around here are kinda... chinsey.
You did remind me that I need to fix the cupholder from Hell in the grey car though. Whoever decided to put cup holders right over the window switches will burn for it.

D, Wal-Mart has a cup holder that wedges between the console and the seat. It works pretty well for me, and costs <$5.

Hmm, that could work. Have to check it out next time I'm there. I hate havimg to hold onto my biggie drink and shift manually. ;)

Ijust wish I had a cup holder, Oh well, It keeps my power window switches from shorting out due to the sweating drink. Oh yeah, while I'm at it, I'll have a Triple bypass special w/cheese, some Atomic stomach bombers, and a large acidic intestinal cavity carver..To go...NOW!
I love multitasking behind the wheel, but don't endorse it.

Thats the best feeling in the world. Drivin down the road with a coke in one hand a burger in the other, steerin with your knees, and shifting with your AHMM!! Guess we don't need to discuss that shiftin part on here do we. :D :D That is a great tech article and I am trying the rubberband thing in mine now.

I'm male. As such, I have a hunch of what you're talking about when it comes to shifting. But, HOW?!

Hey Ace, sorry I haven't gotten back to this one lately. The shiftin part is a combination of natural endowment, very special training and lots and lots of practice. :D

What's the story with Jack in the Box? We don't have them here in the east.
I'm only asking in case I have the opportunity to visit the left coast.

And where would you get trained for something like that? Lol, that's just wrong. I'd be scared if I saw someone shifting like that...

Dereck,
Thanks - awsome post!! It's a real shame I only have a '90 and no cupholders. [What were Ford thingking of!!]. You've made me realise a whole part of my life is missing when I'm driving the TC.
I shall just have to console myslef with the supersoft pillowy ride.
Which is probably just as well since the way I drive it would probably launch several gallons of supersize straight into my lap!!! :D
BTW - It was good to see you and Janice at the Guilford Cruise. Did that make it the 3rd meet of the Burnham on Sea Lincolns On Line group? Do you have any pics you could post [or did you already?] It was good to meet Janice also.
BTW2 - is this the first post of the day? ;) Who got in with first post of August?
V best regards
Nick
