If someone has done this already I'm sorry, I must have missed it. I'm not trying to make anyone mad or anything, just tryin to figure an average age for the owners on this site. If you don't want anyone to know thats fine. I just want an estimate so next time someone says that these are "old peoples" cars I can correct them with a little more accurate figure. I will start. I am 20 yrs old.

P.S. If this thread dies immediately I will be very disappointed since we have over 3000 members on here. :D

Happy Birthday Dereck, mine is in a week also. I'm 26, barely older than my first car, LOL!

If my calculations are correct, I think my taste in cars, music, design, architecture puts me right around 46 years of age however.

As of now the average age is 32 yrs old.
A wonderful happy b-day to everyone having them this month. Now penman, I have to see this purple towncar. I wish mine was purple so bad i had to put purple neons under it. And MichaelVIILSC/SE, Why do you have to talk about penman's car like that. The hillbillies that make up most of Nashville would never imagine painting a car purple. Especially a Towncar. :D Just kiddin, but I would like to see some pics of this purple TC is you have any/can get any. Keep on posting away people and ladies, don't worry about your age cause this is a ??scientific?? study but if you don't want to give an exact age if you could just put something like 30's or 20's, just something I can use. Thanks again for all the posts so far. smile.gif

Michael VII LSC/SE
March 17th, 2004, 08:22 AM
Since there have been changes to the English language via the educational system and regional differences I feel I must clarify. Plus this is an excuse to raise my post tally!
Purple has got to be a beautiful color on Pennman's TC. I too would like to see pics. The autograph question references the showmanship of Nashville's Grand Ole Oprey. ;) And yes, while purple is a beautiful color, I've too have heard it said "It takes a man to drive a Purple car"

On a cloud covered night, lit by the right lighting, my own car is sometimes purple. :D tongue.gif

P.S. Like the miles, care and/or modifications on our cars, age is irrelevant. Now Education, disciplines and careers can be insightful.
;)

I have been cagey about my exact age since I was exposed to an article on charting BioRhythms. Especially after I found the article again, years later and charted my rhythms for that past, specific life-changing event.

That taught me to keep everything in top condition and tune so that when that event jumps out in front of you, your tires, suspension, brakes, and tune are in top form to avoid the obstacle and be available to assist those less fortunate. ;)

Hey Michael, I wasn't trying to start anything with you, more a jab at Nashville by me. I started this cause I overheard several people talking about how much money my Grandparents had cause there were 2 Towncars in the driveway. One is mine and one is my dad's. My Grandmother drives a Mercury Mystique cause she likes the small size of it as opposed to the Towncars. Sorry if you took it as a shot at you. That's not how it was meant. Since most of us purchased our Lincolns used, I doubt they really care. They are more concerned about the old folks who buy these cars and hand THEM over some cash. smile.gif

i turned 40(ugh) last summer, this was not a good b-day. i would have been happy just forgetting about it!! my wife is 35 and i have 4 kids , ages 14,11,10,8. never a dull moment at our house!
my fisrt lincoln ,a 1975 triple black towncar, when i was 20. since then ,1 1977 versialles(honest), several mark vii's,a couple of continentals and a lot of town cars. i think i've always had at least one lincoln around. once the kids started appearing in volume i had to get responsible and get rid of the 2 door cars. soon once the kids are a little older we can return to the 2 door cars(maybe a corvette or mustang gt???). i guess 40 isn't so bad- just think 50 is closing fast!!!!! not good.

Michael VII LSC/SE ---

You made mention of a purple TC and Nashville earlier -- Let me relate a good Purple Lincoln story -- in 1957 I was 17 and at the brand new Plaza Movie theatre here in Memphis on a Friday night with my date -- we were leaving around 11:30 p.m. when up pulled a beautiful brand new 57 Purple Lincoln Premier hardtop. Inside was Elvis and some of his buddies. Immediately a herd of young girls surrounded the car, going nuts (must have been a couple of hundred, almost like they new he was coming), began rocking and beating on the windows. One girl pulled out her lip stick and started writing on the car - quickly almost all the girls pulled their sticks out and in short time you could not tell what color the car was and all the windows were covered up. The manager of the theatre ran out with some ushers and got Elvis and his buddies out of the car anf husseled him into the building. Back then, Elvis would rent movie theatres, amusement parks, ect. after hours because he never could go out in public. He screwed up that night getting there too early. What a sight!!

I'm really kinda surprised at the number of us youngin's on board who are under 21. Well, I will be for another 2 months, but still...

I think there would probably be even more of us youngsters with Lincolns if they only knew how roomy the backseat was, and how many positions you could assume in it. :D

Seriously though, it's sorta gratifying that there's this group of younger owners here who, for the most part, want to make the car better in terms of performance and overall Lincolnesque appearance and feeling, and not putting fart-can mufflers on Honduhs with bling-bling stickers and neon lights. (no offense to the Lincoln owner who has lights on his car)

Hey all, we are now at an average of 41.66 so Dereck you are no longer the average on here. DS, I take no offense to your comment about neon lights. Some people don't like them and some do. I can't change that so I don't worry about it. It is all about what you like and I like the way the neons look on my car. Now I agree with you about the fart cans though. That is just stupid IMO. You are right about these back seats too. Especially if you move the front seats up all the way. You could have a threesome in the backseat. Name many other cars that can make that claim. :D

Just want to add my age in here. I'm 22. Still young and driving a young car too.

Cason. What was your backseat comment? We need to know. Why? Well there's one thing we (despite age differences) think of when it comes to backseats ;) . And a TC backseat OMG! :D . My car has a huge trunk but it's not the same as a huge back seat.

So there you have it. The conti-pimp is 22 and counting.

Alright, alright. I guess I can disclose my backseat info. That night my girlfriend and I had a huge fight. We called and made up. A few hours later she called and said she was in the garage at my work. I went downstairs and she wanted to REALLY makeup. I called back upstairs and said I was going to lunch. Found a nice quiet park and began making up when Metro Nashvilles finest pulled up along side of us. The only reason he didn't take us both in was the cause I told him I was on my lunch break at a nearby hospital and was wearing my hopital scrubs. Yes I changed them and took a shower before going back to work. He wrote us both a citation and I now have a misdemeanor on my record cause of it. You all asked so now you know.

The age is now at a whopping 40.75

I don't think it's illegal to actually make out in the back of a car, just to make-out while in a public place. If you're in your garage making out in your car, I don't think the cops would bother you too much. :D

I hate being the youngin' of the group, always makes me the designated driver, which in itself isn't so bad 'cause I don't drink much anyway, but it runs the risk of my car's interior being scarred for life.

I'm 44. I do hope someone sends this informal survey to the Lincoln Divison at Ford. The Town Car is a world-clas vehicle. If my wife hadn't bought the neighbor's Town Car, I'd would have made terrible mistake when I replaced my Plymouth Acclaim.

I remember one time just as I got to this party to pick up my rather drunk friends an upstairs neighbor came out onto the balcony, in her towel, to ask when things were winding down.

I was glad she did. Made the 20 mile drive worthwhile. :D

Regularity is a noun. Regularly is the adverb tense of regular. It's not compatible with regularity.

And having regularity is good. Immodium doesn't stop regularity, it stops diarrhea which is way past regularity.

I guess the grammar posse wants in on this grammar huddle. I don't quite see how Josh's use was wrong. My view is that because relularly and regularity were in separate sentences, the way Josh used the words was grammatically correct, however referring to regularly with regularity in the same sentence would have been questionable due to what SilverCobra stated before. How else could it have been expressed?

Point well taken Matthew. That is why I asked for the average age of the people on here. Those that are on here at least had some way to access the site. I know there are many, many people out there that drive Lincolns that aren't registered on here or don't even have computers. This is a very active site of people with mostly common goals. To make our Lincolns run better, look better, and surprise the hell out of a few ricers at the track. I know I can't afford to go out and buy a $40k-$60k car but many that are older than me can. The 40's, 50's, 60's, and beyond. Since most of the people in that age group buy them new with warranties they don't find much use for this site since they don't work on them theirselves. I basically just wanted to find out roughly what ages of Lincaholics I consider to be my Internet Family.
I also know that a lot of folks don't get on here very often to respond to threads like this and that is one reason I am happy people keep adding to it and keeping it near the top.
Thanks for putting up with my rambling and I will shut up now. :D

Well Cason, everyone drives a used car. :D
So, what do you want and what do you want to spend?

You learn that most cars are a "QUOTE" "New and Improved Version". And such is sales. A profit to someone else and then the initial depreciation and you have a car worth about 1/2 of what it listed for.
So with some time, effort, mad money and Maintenance budget, you can drive more for less if you are smart and lucky. That is, to find a Mark VII.

Then you should at least have an idea of how "tight" a situation I was in with that car. I think our average age is so young because the legions of typical Lincoln buyers have little experience surfing the net and finding this site. Furthermore, they probably don't have the inclination to climb under the car or lean in precarious positions under their hoods or their dashboards. I am considering sending a note or calling this guy in town to let him know about this board. He seems to have traded in or sold his old LSC for a white one. This is his third LSC by my count. :D Yes, I really do track who drives what. I always say be careful if you attempt any criminal acts involving a vehicle when I am around. I know I can at least identify the car's make, model, color, and possibly anything unique about it. ;) I really track fox Lincolns, though...

Yeah nick I believe the same thing about why the age is staying so low but that is what I wanted to know. The average age of the members on here, not the average age of a new Lincoln buyer. I may be mistaken since it has been so long ago and I don't feel like reading the whole thread again but I think I made a comment similar to yours on the same topic after a misunderstanding.

Not all younguns of course will follow this philosophy, just the smart ones :D . I came so close to buying a Caddy STS but the skyrocketing maintainence prices turned me to Lincoln which are easier to work on.

To any lurkers: Buy a used Lincoln. You'll be really glad you did smile.gif .

That is so true, and with all this ricer fad, it makes it even easier for a 20yr old like myself to find another to add to the collection!

OK, add 1 more to the 30's list, I'm 37 and this is my 5th lincoln but only my 2nd Mark. My very first car was a 1975 Lincoln Mark IV, 9 MPG and I was the shit in the school parking lot! LoL

I think I had a little more room and the sunroof On the MX6 GT came in handy more than once.

Just read the whole string. I'm 57, 97 lsc, 01 TC, 98 bmw z3 for the kids (who want my gold reverso watch and my lsc when I die). The sample is obviously flawed, but I think you can say you are getting a pretty good anaylsis of the site demographics. The young guys will probably buy new when the time comes, and that should interest FOMOCO. I'm not buying new becasue there is no new lsc.

Performance seems to be what drives the site, as near as I can tell (that is not a back seat performance comment). Nice to know I'm not the only one who wants the lsc to live. I've had a lot of cars, but I find the lsc more useable at my age than the 98 vette I had. It's not just the getting in and out thing, it's the not-get-a-ticket, big enough trunk, back seat when you need it (yea, I know). My 29 year old borrows the lsc, and so does my 27 year old. Do they count? My 21 year old borrows it for dates, even when the z3 is available. I'll leave the statistical analysis to you. Interesting string.

Nor am I buying new even though I probably could afford a monthly payment on a slightly used Lincoln, if there was an LSC.

I think that comment really made this string (thread?) come alive. ;)

I'm 67 and loving it!! Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional - 89 Mark is fun fun, even after a Firebird (kept 20 years) and a Porsche........ :D :D :D
