Hi All

It appears we are under attack from Al-Qaeda News Report (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4659093.stm).

Does this mean I am now a refugee and could claim asylum in the States?

Regards

Dereck

I've been watching it all morning on TV, Dereck ... not a good thing at all. Ummmmm, no, what it all means is, if you DO come back to the States, we will put you IN an Asylum! tongue.gif

Stay safe! Regards to the sweet Lady Jane!

You take care over there, Dereck. If you come here, does that mean you'll then be the stateside pain in my posterior? ;)

God bless you and keep you and your fellow countrymen, Dereck.
We over here know what the sting of terrorism feels like.
Those cowardly bastards. May they all rot in hell.

Glad you are okay Dereck.

Perhaps Blair will focus on more relevant pressing issues at G8 now.

Good thing this didn't occur 48 hours ago, this may have changed your chances of getting the Olympic games there.

Bunch of f*ckin' cowards, all of 'em. All I can hope for is that Robin Williams is right, and that instead of 73 virgins waiting for them in heaven, there'll be 73 Virginian's. I'd pay to see that.

Stay safe over there man.

Dereck, load up the Lee-Enfield. Nothing says "home security" like a WWII firearm that you can drill through a fifty-cent-piece at snipers range.

Best of luck. Don't worry too much though, I'm sure everything will be alright.

I am sorry to hear of the senseless attacks. You have our sympathies.

Dereck,

The US would welcome you as always.

It's very sad that these mindless bastards can't do anything constructive and kill innocent people doing something with their life, most of them probably going to their job.

Take care Dereck, be safe.

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the concern and sympathy, fortunately I am 150 miles from the carnage but it is still in my back yard so to speak.

Lucky for me I don't think these cowardly scum will ever bother with a one horse town like Burnham-On-Sea, not enough impact.

I am not sure what news reports you guys are getting but our news says 38 people died with up to 700 injured, that's 38 innocent people going about thier daily lives doing no one any harm.

Whatever your political persuasion I think you will agree that when President Bush and Prime Minister Blair say the war on terrorism must go on, they are not wrong.

I think I now get a hint of what America must have felt like after 9/11.

Best wishes

Dereck

That's terrible news to hear. Terrorists are pussies to say the least. Sucks that 38 people had to unwillingly sacrifice themselves to prove a "greater purpose" that these terrorists like to so eloquently put it

Dereck. Just fab up some grenades that look like Little Debbies. It may help ;)

Take care

Nice to hear you are safe Dereck. We can all take some satisfaction in knowing that the American, British, and coalition forces are picking these bastards off one at a time.
Doesn't make it easier to cope with, but as you said, we must support the President and the Prime Minister. Stay safe buddy.

I can't agree more with Dereck and eshtex. Glad to hear you are ok Dereck. These scum that are responsible need to be destroyed in the worst possible ways.

American journalistic/media coverage is all over this--as if it were downtown NYC. No doubt, American hearts are bleeding with the Brits. Some killed were our own. Two women from Tennessee were among the dead. Enough is enough. These brutal terrorists must be exterminated. Lock and Load!

I agree with Silver Cobra. Dereck mentioned a comparison on how we must have felt during 9/11. He's absolutely right. Not to disrespect anyone in the UK, but from a US standpoint, from what we here, the majority does not support Mr. Blair and his position as PM is in jeopardy. I applaud Blair for sticking to his guns and beliefs. My sister survived the Pentagon on 9/11 and we must do everything to win this war on terrorism...

After the Berlin war came down in 1989, I am very confused as to why people are still blowing each others brains out.

Terrorism fails, and, geez, let the good guys prevail on this, together, UNITED.

The British are being tested again--no doubt.
But PM Tony Blair and Mayor Livingstone will execute a sound plan to find these thugs and bring them to justice. Mark my words and watch the headlines. Still glad Dereck is safe in Somerville.

Umm, Communism and terrorist attacks have very little in common.

I mean, not to whore this thread, but let's keep it on track. The war against Communism was about political differences. This new war, the war on terrorism, is about fighting back against a group of people who don't care about human life, who's only goal is to cause chaos and pain.

The fact that we're here to discuss this at all, and not dust in a nuclear crater, is proof alone that even those who followed Communist doctrine cared about human life.

That is true, except that they both cause human pain.

If your life is taken by either one of them, your life is gone, nevertheless.

How thoughts go out to you and our allies, Derreck. Glad you didn't have business in London.

I think it is time to bring out the 007 crew again and send them deep into the heart of Al Quida.

What else do you do with a group that in effect says, "Assimilate or Die".

Hi Guys

Well the death toll appears to have risen to 50 this morning and there are signs it may go higher.

I don't know how you could punish the perpetraters of this atrocity, as life has so little meaning to them the death penalty would probably be welcomed, they would be hailed as martyrs.

Regards

Dereck

AceFrehley03

The death penalty is almost a joke in a scenario such as this, and the reason is that these bastards deserve to die, slowly. Painfully.

Hunt them down, find their families. Lock them all in a room, starve them for a while. Once weakened, use basic Vietnam-era torture tactics just to make them miserable with no intention of getting any information. Make sure they know this so they know they're hopeless. Simple things, like driftwood pieces under the fingernails (anyone had this happen before? I have.) Make it slow, make it painfully slow. And to top it all off, make it be done slow enough to watch the same things be done to their families, their loved ones. That way they can know first hand there is no torture greater than watching your family suffer.

If they try talking, cut the larynx out.

... apologize for that, I'm angry right now. I think we're going about this war the wrong way now - I think we need as many MOABs as possible to dump on those damn mountain systems. We know he's there, and we don't touch him. He needs to die and this terrorism bullshit needs to be put to a STOP. How one can kill innocent people and ruin the lives of their families by using themselves as a human bomb is beyond me, all while they think they're going to heaven afterwards? I wish pain, suffering, torture and death upon them.

Hope gods listening.

Ace. While I can understand the value of what you suggest to many people, I am sure we don't want to sink QUITE to their level. Not too long ago I saw what appeared to me as a proper response and I am going to hunt for it to bring it here. More later.

Yeah, Dick Durbin of Illinois equates our military at Club Gitmo with Nazis, Soviet Gulags, and Pol Pot. How does a jerk-off a$$hole like that become a US Senator?

Dereck, our hearts are with our Brit brothers and sisters.

Well I found what I wanted. It was a "story" about Gen. Blackjack Pershing and how he handled the rebel muslim extremists in the Phillipines in the early 1900s. Unfortunately it turns out to be an urban folklore account that has not been substantiated. Worth a read though-do a google search on his name and the story has to do with muslim extremists. The realty is there, we have to retaliate with something that matters to them, not pain and death. Check it out. http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_black_jack_pershing.htm

Holy Wars didn't work when they were calledChristian Crusades (http://mars.acnet.wnec.edu/~grempel/courses/wc1/lectures/21crusades.html) and they won't work now for either side Christian or Muslim. It's amazing to me that the only Church Leader to say anything about this insanity was Pope John Paul who came from the same line of people who avocaded the Crusades in the earlier days.
