View Full Version : How/Why did you find Lincolns Online?

How?
I found it just by searching for Lincoln Continental, looked at some other Lincoln forums and decided to stick with this one.
Why?
I just purchased my first Conti and I had no knowledge of many of the systems. I still find many of the answers to my questions here.

I was kidnapped by aliens and when I got back this site was the only thing my copmuter would let me have access to. I'm thinking it's some kind of evil conspiracy to take over the internet.
Now where did I put that bag of mushrooms...................??

I won a bid for my '92 TC and Googled for all the information I could find on it. This was the first Forum I came to and after reading many responses in the different areas of expertise, I knew this would be the best Forum for me to learn and meet other Lincoln owners. Today was one of those days. I met some really fine folks at a "Lincoln" meet 'n Eat today! :D

Google. This site saved my MarkVII from getting trashed; or more trashed than it was when I got it! ;)

I remember some discussion about the creation of this site on the now dead "peak.net" Mark VII boards (I am an old timer, LOL!) and probably heard the same stuff when FvC first opened up, so I joined.

I Think I was surfing and needed a Topic. This was right after a Thanks-giving discussion of the VIII styling vs the VII and my Cousin called it a "Hot Rod Lincoln". So I Yahoo Mark VII, find a site for "Hot Rod Lincoln" and it had a link that lead me here and I joined months later when a question came up.
It's been good for me.

I have had Lincolns and Mercurys since forever but didn't use the web much. Was trying to find info on MK VII's, stumbled onto LSC SS's site and he had a link to here.
It's great to find a place devoted to these cars. LUV my Mark but want another Town Car too...

Hi All
I was doing some mindless web sufing one day and sorta blundered in, had a look round saw some glaring BS that had to be put right and the rest is history.
I must be the only person not using Google smile.gif I use alltheweb.com (http://www.alltheweb.com)

Today is my first day on this sight. I can tell that I will be on it all night. My best friend in the Army bought an '86 Mark VII while we were stationed at Ft. Bragg in the early '90s. I had an '81 Olds Cut. Supreme (what a piece of garbage). This past winter I was looking for a cheap car due to financial difficulties and what do you know, I found a '90 M7 for $500 on E-bay. Today I was searching for recommendations on upgrading the fuel injectors when I stumbled on this sight. I have already replaced the front air bags w/ springs, alternator, battery, right exhaust, smog pump, pcv valve, plugs, oil pan (what a pain in the butt), cap and rotor. Not to mention cleaning all of the carbon out of the EGR valve. I'm looking forward to many more upgrades.

$18,000 Burning a hole in my pocket  searching for which Town Car to buy.. 95, 96 or 97.
What's the difference in the three, what was improved from 95 to 97 and most of all, what's falling apart on the three.
I collected tons of data, much of that from right here, and decided on 96 or 97 whatever comes up first... this began just before Christmas 2001 but I'd been lurking here at LOL since mid 01.
Searching California for the perfect Town Car was tough at that time unless one was willing to hop over to Texas or Florida, every one was advertised as perfect... what they really meant was perfect for parting out.
Finally got my baby in April 02 and joined the gang which I was already familliar with and posted my first Town Car problem...
05/02 Programming the keyless and memory settings. Buying additional fobs.
08/02 Heated seats died.
10/02 Transmission shudder /LubeGard.
10/02 Which tires ? Shocks or not ?
Many more followed, some still un-resolved
This is truly one of those LOVE / HATE relationships... love the TC, hate for anything to be wrong with it.. :D

Was surfing a lot of porn. After which, whenever I'd launch my browser, I'd be hijacked to this site so I figured why not join?
That's what I wish happened. Actually, the whole idea of souping up a Lincoln really got my attention. I lurked this site years ago when I wanted a Mark V. Not many people here at the time had one so I stopped coming. The day I bought my Continental, I knew where I was gonna go for info. and jackassery. This is my favourite Lincoln forum in the internet universe  .

We got our diesel last October without knowing much about it. We did a search on Google and the only article with any info about this particular Mark was written by pro-five-oh. We wrote to him and he told us about this site, and we are so glad he did, it has been an invaluable source of information. Thanks Pro, and DaKat for a great site.

Thank you for keeping the Diesel faith! Because you posted your impressions of the vehicle, you converted a lot of Mark VII owners who would otherwise think the car was a limited-production piece of junk!

Oh no, these cars were never a piece of junk. Quite the contrary, they are really engineering marvels and were built to last, top notch all the way. From what I have been able to find out, their only downfall was their speed. The Lincoln market was used to a fast car, so this model never took off. (No pun intended. They do have good speed once the turbo kicks in.) Many of them went to the Lincoln reps who were able to drive them well over 300K miles. These cars were meant to cruise on the highway, where they are quite exceptional.
Everyone I have been able to find who has owned one has loved it and is always looking for another. One gentleman in the south actually had to sell his to get rid of a girlfriend.

I guess I didn't explain that clearly. This guy had a beautiful white on white LSC turbo diesel that he let his girlfriend drive as her own, and she absolutely loved the car. He had tried several ways to break up with her with no success. He finally sold the car and that was the end of the relationship! (this is according to the guy who bought it from him in '89)
