It looks great! Now lets hope most of that wood, leather and aluminum interior makes it to the production car.

Why in the world was Ford not able to make a Lincoln this cool when they were still in RWD! Makes me angry because it reminds me of the last Eldorado. The car had killer looks unsurpassed technology and drivetrain envied by everyone else, but the sucker was FWD. Bummer :(

They will. It just took a management change to get it all working. I expect the new LS will look like that. And if the Zephyr sells, there's a good chance a Mark and Continental will show up too.
Recommend the Zephyr to everyone you know! Then we can have our Contis and Marks back!

The Eldorado never did it for me. The C pillar was an odd shape. I always liked the STS, until they made it look like the CTS. The Zephyr looks pretty nice. Too bad it's a V6 AWD...but if it sells as well or better than the V6 front drive Continentals...

And the big meats! Sharp car. Full lust will set in when it's AWD with about 300 HP. 6-speed would be cool, but we know that won't happen.

That's nice! Has anyone heard any news on the new Marks? They have a IX and a X concept but I've heard no news of either.

Well its got a 6-spd...automatic! LOL!
If initial sales are good they will hopefully come out with more surprises later in the product cycle.
Jon, no word on a new Mark, except the Mark LT pickup. That will be coming.
And I like your quote in your sig. ;)

 OMG. Did Lincoln actually make that car? It looks nothing like what I've seen before. It's good to finally see Lincoln do something with guts. The car looks for rich and distinctive. I see hints of LS so would be safe to assume that this is its replacement? I like the striping in the interior too. I think Lincoln really has a chance now to compete in a market sector which they dominated in the past smile.gif .

Threads like these make me angry, when everyone yells for "BIG V8! RWD!"
Have any of you ever driven a Lincoln AWD V6 awesome looking sport sedan that will be less than $30,000 new and with a 6spd auto? No, you haven't. Chances are you'd love the car, I know I would, and I can't wait to take one for a drive. We all can pretty much assume it will be much faster than any Lincoln we've ever driven (Mark8's 14.5 was fast in 1993. It's 2004 now.)
Not every car has to be V8 RWD. Lincoln's future line up is very promising, 2 sedans, 1 coupe, a pickup, a full size SUV, and a crossover.
Stop complaining, and watch how your favorite luxury line revives itself from the dead and kills the competition. Enjoy it for once.

AWD is fine I'm sure, never driven one but would expect it to make the car a tad heavier and probably suck more power from the wheels. FWD is ok if it's got a load of stability control options like the Caddys. RWD is the best, BMW has proven it time and time again. I really don't mind if it's AWD but the stinky part is the V6. Hopefully if they make a Mark IX on this platform they'll have sense enough to add an AWD V8 option. you are right 14.5 was fast in '93 today it's the equivalent of a Nissan Maxima, so if they add a V6 what numbers do they expect to put out?! As far as I know Ford has nothing in their V6 arsenal that could put out better numbers than 14's in an AWD car. V8 that sucker and get mid 13's.

Looks like the 88-94 Conti's aren't the only Lincoln ever produced with V6 power and Front wheel drive anymore, but it was still the first ;) If the Zephyr and the Concept Aviator are making Production then the Mark X and Continental will. But the only Question left is what of the Town Car?

Whoops, I didn't see the entire post when I was scrolling back to see who wrote it, and I just thought it was Icarus because of that LSC graphic.
Guys, there isn't anything wrong with FWD and a V6 if it brings new blood into Lincoln showrooms. That, and if the traditional Lincoln salesperson can actually sell this car: they pretty much singlehandedly screwed up both the Pantera and the Merkurs...so they are 0 for 2 in my book.
The 1988 Continental was a great car (before we all knew about the headgaskets) and was a fine choice over a Buick Park Ave, 190E Benz, Lexus ES 250, or any Chrysler product. Even the car mags praised its blend of American comfort with respectable (no better than that) roadholding. It was FWD, had a V6, and sold remarkably well for the first few years before it became "old hat."
I don't know about where you guys live, but I see VW Jettas and Passats everywhere. Those things are the Oldsmobile Cutlasses and Delta 88s for generation X...
...and if Lincoln can get into that market and I have to see less Passats on the road, I will be a happy camper! smile.gif

The Zephyr is gonna be Lincoln's entry level vehicle which gets a sigh of relief from me because they never really had one. Of course there is the LS but that didn't cut it for me especially with its price (in Canada). But this car is distinctive and has a chance against the Japanese offerings. I look forward to seeing more of this car.
I don't think everyone here yelled for V8 RWD. I don't expect it in a car this size but I do expect it in a larger car that will come soon with a familiar name like Continental and a Coupe with a Mark designation. And I don't like the Mark X. How many LS chassis cars do we need?
