The word from Special Vehicle Concepts is that
"Lincoln LS supercharger Kit product release imminent, taking orders."

What are your opinions on this? do you think they can get it to work? And with a price tag of $5,500 do you think it will be worth it?

Hasn't this product release been immient for 2+ years now? Its been a long time coming and I question if the high compression ratio of the LS is a good candidate for supercharging.

They've been saying that for a long time to me, sounds kinda fishy.

As far as the compression, I dont know but I wouldn't imagine it being a very forced-induction-friendly engine..

I have (honestly) been e-maiing then one per month for the last two years - not one reply. For $5,500 it better be good.

We have been working for about a month now with BoostHead.com and creating our own, we did some test fitting last weekend.

The plan is to run about 4-5 psi.

Maybe Im just crazy but Ive been dreaming of a forced induction setup for my 2001 LS for awhile now. It seems that most people are in agreement that due to the 10.5:1 comp ratio, It might not be wise to supercharge it. Ive heard that its not unreasonable to turbo/supercharge an engine with a 9.5:1 ratio with up to 12 psi of boost witch ends up with a comp ratio, after the boost is applied, of like 17.3:1 . 8 psi boost on a 10.5:1 comp ratio ends up with something like 16.2:1 . Ive also read that you shouldn't run pump gas in an engine with a higher comp ratio than 12.4:1 due to detionation issues... is there a way to get around that with better intercooling? Or maybe there is a reasonable way drop the CR from 10.5:1 to something lower? Maybe Im still dreaming. I love my LS so much that its just hard to accept that my powertrain is about as good as its gunna get... There has to be ways to get more out of the engine.

Keep us posted on your results Quik because Im very interested in seeing someone successfully supercharging the LS. I would try it myself but Im not a mechanic and I don't know eny local ones well enuff to trust them with a project that I haven't seen eny one else succeed with. how much horsepower\torque to you think you will gain running low boost like that?

I think the LS motor would be great with a set of low compression forged pistons...you know, the one that the Jaguar S-type R has!!! :D :D :D

Only problem is, you have to love the LS (that's easy, its a fantastic car that gets better with age) and you need a lot of cash and a trustworthy engine shop.

So that blower with a 10-12psi pulley and a built shortblock would make a great LS.

Compression ratio is compression ratio... it doesn't change with added boost. The issue is a.) the cylinder pressure (14.7+boostxcompression ratio) and b.) the heat generated in the combustion chamber and cylinder. That being said... the LT1 Trans Ams can be supercharged ~6 lbs non-intercooled, and 8 lbs intercooled. They also have a compression ratio of ~10.5:1

Thanks for the headsup on the LT1 Trans Ams info jonota. I just did a little reading and it looks like useing the LT1TransAms as a refference for supercharging the LS might come in handy. I never even thought about a water injection system to reduce the air temp/detonation.
