I have seen these on ebay and just wondering if anyone has looked into trying it? There are two or three listed on ebay called turbonator and turboando....they claim hp gains as much as 35 which I find hard to beleive in just putting a piece of bent metal into your intake.

Your suspicions are correct; they are crap. If anything, they will create a slight RESTRICTION to proper airflow.

that's what I thought.... I was just curious to see if anyone had any experience with them....

00LS5SPD,
I had experience with them a couple of times back in the 1960s & '70s, when engines had carburetors; worthless crap then, worthless crap now. This "mail order engineering" is nothing new; cow magnets, water "injection", the tornado-like devices, fuel pressure regulators for carburetors, platinum fuel pre-treatment catalyst devices, miracle (usually Teflon) engine treatments to reduce friction, etc. My advice is that if you want turbocharged performance, install a real turbocharger; it will work (but it's NOT $29.95 or so). smile.gif

My personal favorites are still the "electric superchargers" that are sold on Ebay for like $50 or whatever, and are these itty-bitty electric motors turning baby fans. Even at full boogey those fans couldn't move enough air to supply a car at idle, let alone add power, and yet people buy them!!!

Truely amazes me.

Actually your wrong on one point. People don't buy them, Ricers buy them and then brag about it doubling or tripling their horsepower.

I was thinking about buying a couple CPU cooling fans for $5/ea and making some snazzy neon colored housing for 'em and selling those as electric uberchargers. Think it'd work? :D

Just get one of those space fans available at home depot. Retrofit one in place of your hood.

Remove air cleaner and air cleaner lid.

Whammy! 50000 horsepower.
