Howdy. NooB here with first post. Just traded in my Ford Escape (hanging out www.escape-central.com) (http://www.escape-central.com)) for a 2005 LS Ultimate, and now that I've had it home for two weeks I have to ask a question to see if I'm insane or not:
When my wife's Aviator is in reverse and the proximity sensor is triggered, it'll lower the volume on the radio so the tones can be heard. My LS doesn't, but I'd swear that one of the three that I test drove did.
Should it? Or am I totally misremembering? The manual doesn't mention anything on the subject....
If it should, why wouldn't it be?
Thanks!

Welcome! It really should, I thought all Fords did that!
I would test drive another LS ultimate and try it out. There's a feature to mute the stereo if you need to get to your cellphone (or U-Connect on the newer LSs) and maybe there's a problem with the wiring between the reverse sensors and the stereo muting.
Oh, this is the factory reverse sensing system, right?

Oh, this is the factory reverse sensing system, right?Yep, the factory reverse sensing system. Dunno if all Ford's do that because none of our previous ones (Escape, Explorer and Ranger) had that, just the Aviator.
I've also discovered that the factory alarm isn't working, either. There's no light flash when it's "engaged"; I can reach through the open window and open the door after it's (allegedly) armed with no sound; the lights flash 5 times when the car's first started (what the manual says it'll do when one tries to engage the alarm with an open door; AND if I hit the Panic on the fob the lights will only flash....(I guess if I get robbed by a deaf person that'll scare him off. :wink smile.gif
;) ;) ;)

I coulda sworn our 2001 Mountaineer muted the stereo when the park distance was activated! Well the car is under warranty, better let them address the alarm and park distance. smile.gif

I finally got around to bringing it in today, but while they fixed the alarm problem, they said that my particular LS (Ultimate, with the SoundMark Audiophile head unit) isn't designed to mute the radio.
I have no way of proving or disproving that thesis.
Anyone have a similiar '05?
