I am hoping someone out there can help me with this. Just bought my 2000 Lincoln LS couple days ago and LOVE every minute I spend in it. I have the upgraded factory Alpine stereo system that has 'subs' and amp installed in the rear deck. I want to take out the factory amp/subs and add on some subs of my own. (12” kicker L7) The factory amp takes a 2-wire harness input. Anyone familiar with this? The installer at my local stereo shop told me that there MAY be a converter that turns this 2-wire harness into a usable RCA source.... Any one know if this exists? Has anyone added on subs to the factory Alpine system? How did you get a useable signal?

I can't give you specifics but there is a way to convert the two wires from the head unit into a coaxial cable. I think even Radio Shack has this harness! Or you can buy your own coax's, cut them, and splice those wires into the stereo wires. (two wires per coax, of course) smile.gif
Not knowing the wattage and THD (total harmonic distortion) of the Alpine amps, I would recommend bypassing them and getting your own amp.
