Anyone else experience the excessive crank time that I have? At times it spins over for at least a minute without cranking and when it finally does, it seems flooded and runs very rough. Any help would be appreciated.
Problems so far:
1) Headlamps full of water
2) Trunk full of water
3) Mic broken off of column for cell phone
4) Excessive crank time
5) Water leak at Pass rear window
6) Recall of tie rod
7) Phantom alarm when driving down the road
with no alarm in driver center
8) Crappy tires that vibrate

Welcome to the wonderful world of the LS.
How old is your LS, several of the problems,
headlamps with water, excessive crank have been recitified on newer LS's If your LS was built before December 00 you need the "reflash" PCM program update. The headlamp cover gasket problem was supposedly fixed around October 00. Haven't heard of the pass rear window water leak, but you could be ready for the window crash problem. A part in the window mechanism comes out and the window falls down. Water in the trunk is probably due to a torn trunk gasket, where it makes the 90 deg bend down. Tie rod recall is no big deal probably well under 10% of the LS's have incorrectly torques ball joints.

Thanks,
Mine was built in 3/00. After staying at the dealer all day Friday, they told me they could not find a problem. I got in the car to leave and guess what, it did it. I casually mentioned that I had read there was an update for the PCM. Well, we didn't check that but we would be more than glad to do it, just give us another hour or so. I would have at least thought they would have checked for an update on the PCM. I guess I expect too much since I worked at a dealer for 10 years. That was the first thing I would check. Made hunting a problem a lot easier. Thanks for the window warning. I will be expecting it. Anything else to look for? Thanks for your info 351CJ.
I am beginning to think this is full of problems world of the LS.

My understanding is that the dealers are instructed not to do an update just because a customer asks for it. Instead the customer must describe a symptom that a TSB addresses then you get the fix.
If you LS was built in 3/00 you should have the 12/99 PCM code. There is an update that just became available a few weeks ago. It is the 01 model year program. Even though 01 LS's started rolling off the line in July 00 the EPA has to approve putting the new software on older cars so it took that long to get the approval. It's possible that your dealer is not up to speed on the lastest update. The primary problem that the latest software addresses is the delay some LS's show shifting from P-R R-D etc.
Unfortunatly the window crash problem follows the same rules. My right side passenger window makes a real bad clunk when it closes. Other LS owners have told me that that's a sign that it will crash soon. However my dealer will not do anything about it (per Lincoln) until the window mechanism actually fails. I'm hoping it holds out until the warm weather. The only good news is that an upgraded window mechanism is now available.

Thanks,
I was also having the delayed shift from D to R so maybe that will fix this problem also. I don't guess that they are up to speed on the cars. He said they don't get too many in there for service and that the techs fight over which one will get to work on them. He said that they would do the upgrade next week . Thanks for the info. I am like you hoping that if I have a problem with the window that it will wait until summer.
