I purchased a 2000 Lincoln LS that had only one Remote Keyless Entry FOB. I purchased a new remote and went to the dealer to have it programed. They wanted $79.95 to program the FOB - I did not go for it. I would like to know if there is a way to program the remote without using the dealership and the onboard computer unit? I know that some cars require a sequence with the ignition switch to enter the security mode and program the remotes. Is there such a thing for the Lincoln LS? I would appreciate any help.

Welcome Andee...
Someone with more knowledge than I will certainly chime in soon. Actually, I shouldn't even be responding to this post 'cause I don't have the answer(s) to your questions however (hell, stranger things happened) I saw a process for tempermental Ford trucks (2000 thru 2003) that might help  ........

Anything's worth a try......

2002-2003 F250-F550 AND EXCURSION - DIFFICULTY IN PROGRAMMING THE KEY FOB(S)
SOME 2002-2003 F250-550 AND EXCURSIONS, MAY EXHIBIT A DIFFICULTY IN PROGRAMMING THE KEY FOB(S). THIS MAY BE DUE TO A CHANGE IN THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS.
THE CONDITION MAY BE CORRECTED BY PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
1. THE PERIMETER ALARM (IF PRESENT) MUST BE DISARMED AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE UNLOCKED WITH THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK SWITCH (DO NOT MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOORS).
2. CYCLE THE IGNITION FROM OFF TO RUN EIGHT TIMES WITHIN TEN SECONDS, (ENDING IN THE RUN POSITION).
3. THE DOOR LOCKS SHOULD CYCLE AT THIS POINT, SHOWING THAT THE MODULE IS IN THE PROGRAM MODE.
4. AT THIS POINT PRESSING ANY BUTTON ON A KEY FOB WILL ASSOCIATE THE KEY FOB TO THE VEHICLE, AND WILL CAUSE THE LOCKS TO CYCLE. NOTE: UP TO FOUR KEY FOBS CAN BE PROGRAMMED TO THE MODULE, ALL MUST BE PROGRAMMED AT THE SAME TIME.

You can program it yourself as long as you have the 2 original keys. The info is in the owners manual.

If you do not have both original keys, you are out of luck, you must go to the dealer and pay the $80.

I checked the owner's manual and the only thing shown that requires a least two keys is the programming of additional keys. I am trying to program the keyless entry FOB. I also tried turning the key 8 times within ten seconds and this does not put my LS into the programming mode. I do not know what to do. Any other suggestions?
