Is it possible to buy a mirror that has built in compass off a premium LS and install it on a base LS?

Yes, the compass mirror is even listed in the Lincoln accessories catalog.

Or, you can just buy the mirror directly from the manufacturer. They advertise in rags like Autoweek.

What year LS do you have?

2000 LS's did not come with compass mirrors, no matter which model.

If you have rain sensing wipers on a '00 LS the standard compass in the Lincoln Accessories catalog will not work as it hits the rain sensor. There is a work around, but I don't remember what it is.

New Autoweek just came and there is an ad for the compass auto-dimming mirrors again.

Good luck and let us know what you buy and how it fits.

I had a Donnelly mirror that I bought direct from them, when I had my SVT Contour.. Electrocromatic, and the compass, all for about $200 shipped. One of the best things I ever installed!

I had a 2001, but I just bought a 2003, it doesn't have the compass mirror, and I wanted to add it on.

Since you don't have a compass mirror, you must have a V6 Base, which means you also do not have the moisture sensitive wipers, so
the standard auto-dimming compas mirror should fit.

Let us know how it works out.

I've heard a rumor that the V6 Convenience Array (adds driver's seat, steering wheel, pedals & outside mirror memories + homelink & autodimming compass mirror) will be back for MY 2004.
