Warning Ding Sounds but no message!

I have a 2000 LS V8 Sport. Occasionally the Warning Chime will sound but no message will appear in the dash cluster. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this nuisance?

It's fairly common. If you happen to be looking right at the message center when the ding occurs you may be able to catch the error message flash up.

The most common messages appear to be "Gear select error". "Left rear wheel......" , "Fuel pump......"

They seem to indicate that the PCM has momentarily lost contact with the transmission, wheel sensor or fuel pump. One thought is that the errors are due to ground issues. However tbe dings appear to not present any problems and are just a minor annoyance.
