View Full Version : Driver Side A/C Problem

I've got a 2002 V8 LS. This is my first summer with the car. I've had this problem occur twice in the last week -

AC is cooling normally, then the driver side starts to blow warm/hot air (heater i believe). The passenger side is still blowing cold air. I can get cold air on the driver side by taking the temperature setting to 90 and then back to 60.

It appears that when the driver side temperature reaches the set point, instead of regulating at that point, it turns the heater on because it thinks it's too cold.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Simple problem, you are low on AC coolant (R134), its as simple as that. You can fill yourself with an inexpensive recharging kit or have any AC service center do it for you.

actually it sounds like the temperature sensor within the dash that regulates the dual climate control. If the car is under warranty it should be fixed at no charge.

Been there, done that. The dealer replaced a heater control valve near the radiator.

Hey Mike,

I don't suppose you have a part # available for that heater control valve? I have been having that issue as it first started with the right side, but hasn't happened on the right and is now happening more and more on the left side. I'd like to just grab the part and change it myself if it is easy enough if you have the part # it would help even more.

Thanks,
Phil
