when you lift the hood on the passenger side. you will have to remove the plastic dressing just between the engine compartment and the windshiled.
The only place i have found the filter is the dealer and fordpartsnetwork.com

So the car tells you to change the cabin air filter? That's so cool! I wish they put that in my parents' Continentals.

it is just a simple mile-count down, but at least it reminds you!

It's actually a combination of mileage and time. However I would think that miles only would make more sense.

How do you turn the AC filter replacement message off after you change the filter?

Owners guide says location is just in front of windshield under cowl grill on pass side--sounds like previous '98 Continental location, but plastic cover is not split like '98--do I just "pop" plastic cover off?
A special thanks to whoever has a good answer.

you pop the half-dozen plastic pins out of the cowl - by pressing in their centers - and then lifting the cowl forward and up.
the AC filter will be under that in plain sight.
once you change the filter - you reset the message center by holding the reset button in once you are at the AC filter change screen.

Believe it or not, the owner's manual describes it pretty well! The real trick is to get the pins out and back without breaking them.
When removing, push the center in to make the tip smaller so they can be withdrawn. BUT, when replacing, pull the center pin OUT a little first. Then, when the pin is fully in, push the center rod down until it is flush again.
