View Full Version : One New Tire

My 2004 picked up a nail on the edge of the tread. Car has only 7000 miles. So I've ordered one new matching Continental.
Wondering whether to use the new tire on the back or front. My concern about the back is that the slightly different diameters will make the differential work all the time. But Tire Rack says put the new one on the back.
Any comments?

I'd put the new one on the back, lay out some bleach and have at it for a minute or so, then put the new one wherever you want. :D
Seriously though, I'd put it on the back because the tire needs to be 'broken in' so to speak, and on the front the new tire may give you weird steering symptoms.
Just me. Then rotate like normal in a few thousand miles and life will be good.

Don't forget to put a little Seafoam in through the valve stem first! tongue.gif

Ya'll are gonna keep it up with these seafoam jokes and we are going to end up with a newbie with 4 tires full of seafoam, 5 quarts of it in the oil pan, the gas tank full of it, not to mention the power steering fluid resevoir, coolant tank/radiator, brake system, wiped on the leather as a cleaner, with 5 gallons just in case stored in the trunk wondering what exactly they did wrong and why the car isn't acting better!!! ;) :D

Because they didn't use any Seafoam to refill their blinker fluid or lube their muffler bearings.

Seafoam also cures acne, baldness, and has been rumored to be more effective in helping men reclaim their wood than Viagra!

Thanks for all the advice.
I put the new tire on the back, same place where the bad tire was.
The new tire tread measures 10/32 or 10.5/32 inch. The others measure 9/32. Guess 1/32 different diameter is inconsequential.
So what is seafoam? Is it good on rye?

It is awesome stuff and is highly regarded by most on here and is the only additive reccomended by Ford. It is so good that it has become a joke as being able to cure everything to ever go wrong with anything and is the most perfect substance in the world.

It also enhances the performance of Ebay electric superchargers!
