Hi a newbie to the site here. Looking for some type of step by step instructions for replacing front disc pads on 2002 Lincoln LS. Far from mechanic status but have replaced disc pads in the past with relative ease. Dealership wanted to charge $350 to replace and I just couldn't see paying that much. SO PLEASE if anyone could direct me to a site or give instructions on how to replace front pads I would be most appreciative.
Thanks,

Well -
the fronts are just like every other car - nothing special.

-Just remove the wheel, the two caliper bolts and pop in the new pads.

the rears are a different story....

I have not done an LS, but just did my wife's Taurus (and many others in the past).

First use a large C-clamp to press in the piston. Just watch that the master cylinder reservoir does not overflow. I like to suction out the master cylinder almost completely at this stage, in order to replace the old fluid.

It's not necessary to open the wheel cylinder fluid nut, but I do, to flush out the old fluid while watching that the master cylinder does not get too low.

To flush without extra equipment, use a hose on the wheel cylinder port.
1) Have assistant push down, then open/close the cylinder, draining some fluid.
2) When cylinder is closed, have assistant release brake.
3)Repeat till fluid coming out at wheel cylinder runs clear.

This is identical to the procedure for
bleeding, providing you have no air in the antilock hydraulics; I've never had to deal with that problem, but it's tough on some cars.

To add on to what has already been posted, don't skimp on the pdas themselves. I made that mistake and bought some cheapy NAPA pads and they squeeked like crazy. At least get the OEM pads, or maybe even consider and upgrade to someting like what Quick LS has - slotted rotors and racing pads! Sweet.

I use the carbon Kevlar Porterfield Racing Dustless Pads (R4-S High Performance Street and Autocross) - and would highly recommend them.
