First, thanks for the good wishes from several of you. Hope we can make this area of Lincolnsonline a bit more active.
Sales Statistics January 2003:
Navigator: 2112 + 11%
Blackwood: 153 + 34%
Aviator: 1219 No earlier sales
Sedans
Town Car: 3605 +4%
LS: 3205 +55%
Conti: 280 -72%
Lincoln total: 10574 +24%
So, looks like we get to fight another day and are not out of the ballgame yet.
I have been reading that the Escalade and particularly the Avalanche from Chevrolet are starting to suffer a downturn. Not to be cheeky, but my own take is that there are only so many NBA players, actors/actresses, pimps and drug dealers that will buy those vehicles. Atlanta is a really big sports town and we have sort of gone through the whole gamut of "hot" vehicles.
I don't keep too close track of our customers in our store, but we do count Javy Lopez (The Atlanta Braves catcher), Tony Stewart (The Nascar driver)and a few other high flyers as customers in our store and they seem to change vehicles like most of us change underwear.
In any case, the Navigator is very well entrenched in the "upper middle class" neighborhood where Pat and I live and I think the Aviator will do well here too. If I look at our store's parking lot, I see a lot more Navigators than I do the GM equivelants.
As to my own Blackwood, I continue to get about 12 mpg in town and 16/17 on the highway. Pat and I are taking off for New York City on Friday for another 1200 mile trip and that will get us well over the 10,000 mile mark.
Due to business pressures, both timewise and moneywise, I have not done any mods to my Blackwood just yet. I do have a three way chip that I hope to install when we return from New York and if I can sell the complete exhaust I still have from my 1999 Lightning (7K pampered miles) I will also put on a cat-back exhaust and an intake system.
Got to go for now.
Bill
