I’m posting this here and in the Audio Forum.
I’m looking for some direction and help.
My wife finally persuaded me to replace her 1990 T/C, which I now get to do over for a family keepsake.
I just picked her up an early 2003, Lincoln Navigator, with 30k on the odometer.
Fully loaded all the toys, $27k.
Build date is July 2002.
It has the early generation of the navigation system.
I am going to search out and upgrade the Nav system to the 2004 dvd version.
I know I have an illness, Thank You! And I have already bought this vehicle after looking at dozens of 2003- 2006 Navigators.
1- Can anybody recommend which Manual On Disk, I should order?
Looked on e-bay, seems there are 3 being offered, All-Data, Chilton’s & one from NJ.
2- Navigation System Up-Grade, from early 2003, to the DVD based 2004 system.
I have searched the web, and I’m just not getting any solid hits on data about the 1st generation, to the 2nd generation Nav System.
A Post here or there, and other people asking this question, in a few forums, but on a whole, not to much info.
I do know that the Nave System has tentacles everywhere in the vehicle.
I know this will not be plug & play, that I may have to splice harnesses together and replace every component of the audio, Nav, and DVD system.
Some stuff will be available potluck, thru the salvage yards especially in the New Orleans/ Mississippi area. Other items will be from the dealer new.
Any site recommendations?
I will be happy to photograph the whole swap and write it up for a post on this site.
Thanks Tim H.

ADDING
Some one sent me a link in my e-mail.
gave me some leads.
Plugs are different from Phase 1 to Phase 2 Navagation system.
The Phase II harness is available for $50.
The 2004 Head Unit is available NIB $1500.
I Still need more info.
Any and all help will be appreciated.
Here are the web links.
$1500.- 4L7T-18C895-AD Head Unit. (http://www.radiosandmore.com/prod_detail.asp?pn=4L7T-18C895-AD)
$ 50.- K82207541 Phase II harness adapter. (http://www.radiosandmore.com/prod_detail.asp?pn=K82207541)
I know I need the mirror with the mike, and I have to change the rear window antenna.
Does anyone have info on the lower single dvd rom reader that holds the navigation disk?
I have not confirmed this, but some one said it does exist inside the lower console
Looks like this Ford Mazda version on e-bay.
FORD DVD ROM GPS NAVIGATION UNIT PLAYER (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-FORD-DVD-ROM-GPS-NAVIGATION-UNIT-PLAYER-MAZDA-RX8_W0QQitemZ8000222595QQcategoryZ38653QQssPageNam eZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
But is internal instead of external.
Thanks
