I want to, but since the Aviator in the family isn't mine, I won't. smile.gif

The key is to take a really good (sharp) drill bit to the hole of the rivet. Once the rivet starts spinning you have to try another bit or get a cut off wheel type of tool and cut the rivet in half.

Did this to my Mark VIII and the rivet started to spin. It actually damaged the paint a little bit, so learn from my mistake and don't do that!

BTW, you can get stainless steel bolts from the hardware store to reattach the plate if needed.

Boy am I glad that I happened to see this. I am wanting to do the same to my car. I had a fender-bender last year and had to paint repaint the bumper and painted it white to match the car but the paint doesn't like holding on to this part and I am planning on taking off the front and back bumper covers to paint the again this summer and think it would look better without that thing on it.

I check in here every once in a while but since it rarely ever changes I don't visit as much.
