I just got this letter for my Aviator. They are asking owners to come in for a voluntary service program. The program number is 04B22.

What Ford does is add (or remove a quart of fluid and THEN add) a shift enhancing fluid to the transmission to make it shift better. The main problem is banging in to reverse. I expect this is the correct solution to the problem.

Anyway, get this done NOW before 3/31/05!!! There is no mileage restrictions, just go do it!

Navigators might be included too!

They should change the fluid while they are in there.

Odds are they will not. Which might be fine, the friction modifier stuff they use should compensate.

I am just wondering how you guys that own the Aviators like them. I worked at 2 plants here in Missouri that built and protyped them. I really like them, just way out of my budget. I have since moved my career in a diferent direction, and was wondering how they are doing. Besides the prototyped models, I have only seen 1 on the road.

On a side not...Only if you guys knew what Lincoln/Ford was trying to do to these things when they were prototyped...
