Could be O2 sensors, but maybe not. Try an AutoZone (except in CA) and see if they'll pull the engine codes for you (free).

Joe:

I'm not quite sure how to approach this but I assume you are taking your Gator to a Lincoln dealer. Without trying to be a smart aleck, if that is the case you may wish to try another dealer.

I am one of those that tries to only deal with a Lincoln dealer for normal stuff other than modifications. My dealer is more than happy to charge me $65 to put any of my three Lincolns on the OBD machine and it almost always finds out what is wrong or if nothing is wrong they will reset the check engine light.

Regarding the last thought, though not real scientific, I have gotten rid of that problem on my 92 TC a couple of times by just disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes or so, reconnecting it and driving it for an hour or two to let the PCM reset itself. It has now gone about 700 miles since the last "reset" and the light has yet to return.

If that doesn't work it may be you have a legitimate problem. Try Autozone if no other dealers are available. And yes, most Autozones will do a quick check for free, hoping I guess to get the parts business for whatever the check shows is required :D
