Bill or others?
What is your current perspective on the Blackwood truck? Holding up well or tired of it?
One thing I am curious about...the rear suspension. I believe it has air springs in conjuction with steel springs? Does this provide a superior ride compared to other trucks?

I'd say it's probably a safe bet you won't get a response from Bill on this, rj. Are you still interested in the Blackwoods? You know . . . I can't say that I have ever seen one of those trucks

Well I like em. Don't know much about driveability or quality after a few miles but I love the styling of them.

They're good trucks, but they weren't as practical as they needed to be. If they were built with a larger audience than trailer owners in mind, they probably could have sold more. From what I hear, they are great on the highway.

If they had cushier, more supportive seats (if you're used to a Town Car, the Blackwood will be a real change) I would love them. Based on my time with a 2001 Navigator on a road trip, the seats are the only weak point.
The carpeted, neon'd, stainless steel'd rear cargo hole (its not a bed!) is so damn trick that it blows everyone's minds just when you tell them about it. Seeing it is a treat, its just a nice design that is made better because of its rarity.
I saw one again on the road yesterday, put a big smile on my face. Its odd, but in a very good way. Too bad they didn't make it in 2000 and let the market fall in love with it like they did the Navigator. smile.gif

I'd like to drive a Blackwood and test the pickup truck with an airspring/leafspring combination. According to early reviews on the Blackwood, ride quality was a key factor achieved with a near 50/50 weight distribution and the lightly sprung rear end with load leveling suspension.
While Blackwood's initially sold for an incredible $53k, they are now available for $25k or so. I think the price killed it more than the limited carrying capacity.

Yeah, that price was pretty high. Maybe the new Mark LT will be better in that respect. It looks too much like an F150 though.

It looks exactly like an F-150 with a vertical Lincoln grille. It sucks. The Lt does not the Blackwood.
