I wanted to start a fresh thread now that the truck is officially out. Lay judgement. Post any comments you have. Vulgar is acceptable as Ford won't listen anyway ;)

Looks more like a special edition trim level on an F150. I sense a flop especially at those dollars! I'll pass

Badge Engineering is a horrible idea at that price. Even Caddy trucks get a different front end.

This isn't like the Blackwood, its WORSE. This is the reincarnation of the Lincoln Versailles. I hope the market sees that too and buys more F150 Lariats/King Ranches/Harleys instead.

The sooner the bomb drops in Lincolnland, the sooner they'll start making real Lincolns, not tarted up Mazdas, Fords, etc...

Maybe, or they'll kill the brand thinking the market value is lost.

You have to wait for the Volvo based Continental first, Franco. You know the rules in the game of "How to piss off your core fan base." smile.gif

The first picture of the fender badge......Evil Orange peel...is that the special Florida Orange Peel? Not too impressed with most of the style.....

Saw the LT in person when I went to NYC. Its a rolling turd, as expected. Well it would be great, if there wasn't the exact same truck at the Ford dealer for $4000-8000 less. The glue on chrome, glue on taillights, and insanely large Lincoln badges don't keep me from seeing the F150 underneath.

Its pretty depressing in a way.

The only picture I thought of taking was with me giving the LT the one finger salute, but I suppose that would have been inappropriate for a member of the press. tongue.gif

When I went to the Houston Auto Show last year every car mftr had cars w/orange peel except for Porsche and RR/Bentley.

I assume its an EPA regulation thing (sort of like how early 90s cars had horrible peeling of the clearcoat) that makes orange peel part of the deal, but higher end models either aren't under the EPA umbrella (not made here) or are wetsanded/buffed before they ever leave the factory.

I think it's funny how people are critizing this truck before it has even had a chance to sell. Years ago Lincoln was the first to come out with a luxury truck...have we forgotten that. Then Caddy came out with the Excalade EXT. Now you're telling me that when you see one of those you don't see a Chevy Avalanche under it. Or even a Tahoe! Give me a break, Ford it getting into a market that is selling right now, and people will buy it regardless. If I had waited a few more months I probably would have gotten one instead of the new F-150. I think it looks good for a first production year. We'll just have to see what happens.

Man, you obviously haven't been to one of the Ford dealers around here. They can't give trucks away right now except to contractors. Those of us that need to tow things are buying Super Duty's with Powerstrokes, though the 6.0L is still pissing people off as it has been since it was introduced.

I mean, Berge Ford must have 60 trucks on their lot right now, and all three Earnhardt's are the same way, not to mention Five Star and Lou Grubb and Mel Clayton and...

Unfortunately they're not selling cars any faster. IMHO Ford's just really dropped the ball and has lost all contact with the car market, and their designers are creating rolling pieces of sh*t with a blue oval smack-dab in the center.

Oh well, they'll see the light or they'll sink. At least if they do go down it'll probably make the Mark-series vehicles worth more. :D

The Ford Five Hundred/Freestyle and Mercury Montego are on the Volvo S80 platform, and are Just about the best Fords/Mercurys since the '92 Crown Vic/Grand Marquis, and my favorite front drive Fords, (aside from the Mazda designeed, Kia biult Festiva)

The Escalade at least has a unique front end, real wood on the dash and wheel, big 6.0L V8 not available in the Chevy, etc...Lincoln couldn't even muster that up. :( I still believe that the majority of sales Lincoln will get from this rig will be at the expense of an F150 Lariat sale. Looks way too much like an F150 to get the Escalade crowd interested in it.

And for the record, the new 500 currently has $1000 factory to dealer incentives on it, all dealer holdback. I drove the Montego, I like it, but I can understand why its getting such luke warm reviews across the country. It could be a lot better when you compare it to its competition.

Well, when I see an Escalade, I see a fancied up Tahoe. Same thing with the other Caddy trucks. So why is that suddenly a crime when Lincoln does it? I think you folks just can't find any way to say something positive anymore.

Post after post, all I read are "bash bash bash bash"... if you can't be more objective, post somewhere else. It's really wearing thin.

I happen to like the design of the Mark LT. It's a good move to bring back the Mark series that I hope also leads to more Mark vehicles. It's classy without being ostentatious.

And to be perfectly honest, Lincoln has always offered vehicles that were upscale versions of the Ford and Mercury line. That's the whole point of having the "tier" type lineup (something which GM is just NOW starting to do with its brands).

Yeah, I agree. No different than the rebadged caddies from the chevy/gmc line.

My theory is that some of the anger/bashing is due the effort that Ford has made to re-introduce another Lincoln truck model while neglecting to act on some of the proposed car models.
That and the anti-SUV(and truck) sentiment seems to be growing.

just a theory though.

I like the design of the truck OK, but it doesn't scream "luxury." There's nothing impressive about it when you see it driving down the road. If I'm going to pay $50k+ for a truck, I want everyone to know I did when they see my truck. Of course, this seems to be a common problem with all of Lincoln's offerings right now.

Perhaps the only real criticism I have for the LT is the audio & climate controls -- I don't like them.

What is going to keep this truck alive? What does this truck have to offer that the Blackwood did not?

this is simply classic detroit neanderthalism...a direct repeat of the '70s when the 'gas crisis' hit and they were at their big-car zenith and mileage nadir...gas is just about to $2.50 as i write, and the automakers are at their big-truck zenith with a public rapidly shunning them...they have been able to mark up trucks (no pun intended smile.gif )to a greater degree over production costs, and so have converted the bulk of their production to trucks and s/uvs...

if they are at all looking forward, it's still years before they can change paradigm...just like in the 70s...this frenetic business of offering 'employee' pricing is reflective of the downturn in buyer interest...and this is just the summer clearance season...wait till the '06s roll in without such discounts and watch them sweat.......

The "Florida Orange Peal" paint job must be standard on these Ford F150's .....oops!... Lincoln Mark LTs. Sorry I didn't look at the badging so I was mistaken.
I think it is a good thing they keep the Lincolns off to the side, so you can tell them apart from all the other vehicles on the lot.

The thing is, the Mark LT doesn't look good on 26 inch rims, while the escalade looks great with them. And if it doesn't look good on big rims, you can forget about athletes and rappers buying them, which is the targeted audience.
