Right Door Ajar

Hey All-
I have a 97 Mar VIII and all of a sudden today the message center constantly displays "Right Door Ajar." If I try to hit any buttons on the message center it says "Please close door." Is there some type of sensor that goes bad? I have the factory shop manuals but without a NGS Tester they are basically useless because everything in the manuals refers to the codes. Also, can I get an OBDII code scanner that will work for the 97 and that is affordable? (NGS tester is like $800 on Ebay)

Once again Kat..you are the goods!! The interior light still stays on for the 10 minutes the car will allow. I ran outside in the pouring rain to see if it worked..and it did..no more door ajar. I don't really care about the interior light, but I will fix that in the better weather.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR AJAR STAYING ON, IT EVENTUALLY SUCKED MY BATTERY DRY. THE PROBLEM WAS TWO WIRES MELTED WHEN MY STARTER WENT.

have you found the problum with the door adjar if so how did you fix it . because i have the same problum and i have a 1998 markVIII .null
