View Full Version : Headlights Not Blue

My headlights aren't the same when they first turn on. One looks bluish like it is supposed to, bu they other flickers a little bit and then looks like a regular bulb. Then when it warms up it looks more bluish but not at an equivalent level to the other. Is it going? Do I replace the bulb or the entire unit? I also have a leak that collect water. How do I remove the thing?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HID lights on my 1996 LSC are dim too. The driver's side went first, then the passenger's side. Ford wants $600 for each side, and they say there is no alternative. It comes as an assembly? Can anyone help? Angelo - what was your solution? My car *just* came out of warranty and has been nothing but a headache since day 1. (Of course, other than the thing is nuts! http://www.lincolnsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif)

I haven't found a solution yet. They still work though. My driver's side has a leak that fills up with water whenever I send it through the carwash. I can't seem to figure out how to remove the light. My passenger side flickers. I guess FORD is getting $600 from me to fix unless someone out there has a fix...anyone?...Beuler...anyone?

Thanks

Why has your Mark been a problem since day 1?

Curious as I just got to 115,000 on my 94 and stuff starting to break. Was considering a 97 or 98 then buying the extended warranty.

Why has my car been a headache from day 1? 3 racks, 2 door panels, 2 steering pumps, leaky moonroof, blown headlights, panel lights flicker, tranny shifts erratically, and the latest is the engine idles really rough (like it is on 2 cylinders)...of course there is more, but...i love the car, don't get me wrong, its just high maint. Anyone experience a really rough engine on their Marks? it has no power and the check engine light comes on steady, then blinks...help??

Since day 1....tranny replacement, power seat switch replacement, heater door in dash replacement, intermitant wiper blade problem, brakes, suspension problems, rough idle, but all under warrenty, but I have 47K on my '97. I love the car too, but enough is enough. What else can go wrong?

I have had rough idle since I got the car. I spoke to the dealer at which I purchased and they replied with the standard response.."Everything is fine" The second dealer I took it to, told me the spark plugs were OK and not in need of replacement..everything is fine. I tell people, ya' know its a Lincoln and it should idle as smooth as glass, but I haven't figured it out. Can anyone help?

Hi Angelo - I think I can help with your idle problem. I fixed mine over the weekend. There was a slight misfire that soon became a real bad idle problem when the engine was hot. Turned out to be cylinder 1 misfire. So, replacing the wires and plugs surely fixed the problem. I would definitely do this if your car has at least 50K miles. Two places told me that Lincolns had a problem with their wires that never materialized into a recall, but should have. Hope this helps. Oh, and by the way, get your checkbook out. Wires list at $175 from Ford, and plugs about $4 each. Ask them to discount them and you should be happy. The car should idle smooth as glass...mine does http://www.lincolnsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif Replacing them yourself is easy...takes about 1.5 hrs. Everything is in plain view once you remove the plastic covers on the engine. Good luck and let me know how it works out. I love my mark again!! http://www.lincolnsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have the same rough idle. Have since I got the car at 46K Miles. Took it to the dealer 4x. They found all kinds of stuff - I ended up with new Heads, Cams, engine computer, tranny fluid, air compressor, air struts....

The rough idle is still there. They told me the "Early" 4.6's had that problem and there was no solution... So, I live with it.

I'll try this plug/wire trick. There was a discussion about wires a looooong time ago. Anyone have any recomendations besides Ford? I think Taylors were recomended, but, can't remember....

Check the archives here for a less expensive upgrade to the 97/98 HID unit. My local dealer told me to replace one bulb on mine would be $500 if it was a carryover from 96 or $700 if it was a 97/98 unit. Thanks to this site, I now know not to trust the service department at Fresno Lincoln Mercury in Fresno Ca any further than I can throw them.
