Hey everyone,

It's time to replace the belt on my 93 Mark. I looked around and I can't figure how you remove tension from the tensioner!!! It there supposed to be a bolt on the pulley that I can put a socket on?

Somethings not right here. I suspect my dealer (replaced the tensioner under warranty) is AGAIN at fault for screwing up my car.

HELP!

Is is possible that there is a square cut-out on some type of flange to actually put the male end of a 1/2" ratchet directly? I have seen this done before.

there is supposed to be a place on the tensioner where you insert the socket, it's a large square hole, I couldn’t fit a regular socket to size so I went to auto zone and they lend me the tool , but your saying you can't find it  well, I’d go back to the dealer and start talking  you might have been stuck in the middle of no where because the dealer installed the wrong part.. Good luck

Hmm, there IS a hole on the tensioner pulley, but that wasn't what I was expecting. I went over the the Corral and got something interesting, look at LaseRedGT1997's post and about a missing bolt for the pulley.

My Dad took the car to work (how dare he?) so I'll check the car tonight. If I see a threaded hole like the Corral article, I'm gonna get me a bolt for it.

BTW: the Goodyear Gatorback belt (much better than a Kelly-Springfield) for the Mark isn't listed, you have to cross reference it with the 1996 Cobra belt to get what you need.

Bogsback, Lscxtsy: you're right! I didn't notice that little square hole for the 1/2 drive wrench! (I really need a shop manual for these 4.6 Marks, I'm lost)

Forget my post from the corral, not necessary. Those Mustang folk have it tough! ;)
