i have decided to stop pouring money n2 my mark vii and buy a VIII.

GEARS: what are the stock gears, and do they make speedo gears for upgraded rear gears?

can they be super charged? if so what kits are avilable, and are they easy to install.

also, are there any specific years to stay away from?

thanks

Hey Chad...

1. Stock is a 3.07:1. It is an 8.8" rear, so any gear you want will fit. I think the later model Mustang's (1996-up) used the same automatics, so yes the gear can be changed.

2. Yes, none are that easy to install. They also can't handle as much boost as a Mark VII in stock form (no forged pistons, higher compression) The 1997-98 models have the same intake as the 1996 Cobra...makes life a lot easier.

3. 1993 models had a tranny recall...if you find one with low mileage it probably didn't have it done. Mine WAS done, but the dealer did a poor job fixing it. It jerks into 2nd when cold.

There is no bad year, but 1993-94 is my fav. The slickest interior, fastest, and firmest ride. smile.gif

I just did a few simple mods and man what a difference!

My next mod right after Christmas is 4.10' gears and a metal matrix driveshaft ill post the results when installed.

Oh, that's right...the LSC's had a 3.27:1 final. And perforated leather, HID lights, different wheels, badging, etc...

Judging by the road tests of the day, a 1995 LSC was still slower than a 1993 even with the extra gear and true dual exhaust. smile.gif
