I had a little trouble with overheating in my 1993 Mark today...

After retrieving the car from the parking lot (it needed to cool) and bringing it home I noticed that there was no heat from the heater even though the car was OBVIOUSLY overheating.

Aside from a tune up, I know nothing about these 4.6s. Can someone tell me where the thermostat is on the motor? Is it just in that black metal hose near the alternator?

I can probably get the car safely running tomorrow morning if I just knew where the T-stat was...HELP!

Get ready ! ! ! Replacing the thermostat on these cars is not fun. It is much easier if you can put the car on a lift, but it can be done without one. The thermostat can only be gotten to from under the car. It is in the middle of the lower hose on the driver side under the car. Replacing it isn't that difficult, just a little messy. Good luck !

I couldn't get the damn T-stat assembly thing apart, it would flex so much that I couldn't get any torque on it. I had it towed to the shop. :( I have professors who would prefer me to turn in their homework over fixing the Mark.

The car runs fine now and I even told them to put a new fuel filter in! Was not looking forward to that little install either... smile.gif
