i have a 97 mk8.i warm up the car properly, but for some reason lately when i put on the vent or most heating buttons, like panel or floor ,the cars idle drops to the point it starts to vibrate.sometime without the heat on.also if i turn the wheel all the way to the right or left the idle drops and the car vibrates. the distance the idle drops is about half the distance between one line. any answers anybody would help.

Though I am not too familiar with the 1996-up Ford systems, the computer is SUPPOSED to increase idle speed when you turn the steering wheel to the farthest point. This keeps the car from stalling.
It sounds like the idle-air bypass valve might be clogged or broken. Do a search on the Mark VII boards about cleaning this valve (VERY easy, and free!) to fix the problem. On your car the IAB valve is a cylinderical tube with an electrical connection. It is near the throttle body right on top of the intake.

Did they do both KOEO and KOER tests with a scanner to look for engine codes? You say they pulled 1 sparkplug. Sounds to me like you may have a bad plug or plug wire thats dropping one cylinder off at idle. Also the PCM receives a signal from the Variable Load Control Module(located at the lower front center of engine comp.) Maybe the connection has slight corrosion. Note, I've never seen a mark viii engine, I'm just reading this from a wiring diagram, so i can't confirm. Good Luck.

Contact Pete Donato at tdonato@optonline.net He's the president of a NY Mark VIII club and should know someone near you. Maplecrest LM are very knowledgable about Mark VIII's. They might be able to help.
