I have Octastar chrome wheels on my '97 LSC. I had the car detailed about five months ago and decided to do some follow-up work on the wheels. After washing and brushing, I dried them and applied Blue Magic's Liquid Metal Polish, which claims to be "safe and non-abrasive" and also formulated for "car and truck wheels."
The bottom line is that I stopped after I noticed that the other three wheels that I had not cleaned were actually clearer and brighter than the one I polished with the Blue Magic stuff. Hmm...
Can anyone tell me which brand has been tried-and-true for Lincoln chrome wheels? Did I mess up one wheel already? Remedies?
Much appreciated!

I use Meguiar's stuff on everything and with out trying to sound like an ad, I've never been disappointed. Just tried their leather conditioner inside and I really like it too.
You might try just blue windex.
Also I've given up on car wash "tire and wheel cleaner" save the minutes and just use the "pre soak" stuff.
I try to make sure that what ever surface I work on is cool to the touch, all the finishes these days are very soft and scratch easier when they are hot.
My motorcycle friend swears by Mothers metal polish.

Thanks, Rexracer!
I bought some Meguiars stuff when it was on sale at Pep Boys a few weeks back. I've used their entry-level stuff and it's been good. They've sent me this brochure with all sorts of chemicals for car detail pros and enthusiasts. I've also heard Mothers is really good. I got a bit of Mothers chrome polish from a friend but haven't tried it out yet. I'll post the results when I do.
Thanks for your post.

Hey,
I've found the Eagle One tire and wheel cleaner products to be excellent. I have brush alum wheels on my 96 TC and with a little help of a toothbrush for those "hard to reach" places gets the wheels spotless. Also gets your whitewalls (which I hope you don't have on your Mark) bright as the day you bought them...
Good luck.

Invisik,
Thanks for the info on Eagle One. I actually got their Chrome and Wire spray. It works well, but you have to work fast and get it off right away, like they say in the directions. I followed up with some Mothers chrome polish, which was easy to apply and yielded pretty good results.
No, no whitewalls on my LSC... thank goodness!
