I've had the privelege of driving my Mark VIII for the last 2 years and a few problems keep surfacing.
First are the doors. They do not stay alligned with the body and even bounce quite loudly over some of Bostons worst bumps. I have had the alligned by the dealership ( various dealerships ) and they are fine for about a month before they again start bouncing and are not alligned to the body's sheet metal. The Door ajar light DOES NOT come on. The technicians keep telling me that it is a design flaw, but every time I see a VIII i pay special attention to the doors and I have yet to see one with MY problem. Can someone recomend a mechanic or dealership in the Boston Ma, area that could help resolve this particular problem?

Problem two,
My emg. brake light flickers on for a quick second after I take my foot off the pedal brake, every time. Any quick fixes? It is an old habbit of mine to alwasy use the e-brake.

Problem Three,
At highway speedsI can feel a slight vibration. Is this due to the fact that the drive shaft is in sections? I was thinking of upgrading the driveshaft to the LMS Maxspin Performance one piece driveshaft.

Thanks for reading my novel, any help is appreciated. I love this car and if I could just tweak these problems it would be perfect.

I have a 1994 Mark VIII. I also have the door problem. My husband used to complain that I hung on the door when it was open. I kept telling him he was wrong. I've talked to a few other owners that have the same problem so he believes me now. I also am very curious to see if there is a way to solve this problem. In the past I have pretty much bent it back up with a jack. I have a feeling the hinges are not going to like that too much longer...

For what its worth, had the same problem on a '79 Porsche 924 I owned. The sheet metal that held the hinges was too thin. I made reinforcing ridges radiating from the hinges with a wire welder, and this stiffening fixed the problem. I didn't have to add any metal pieces - the weld beads alone were enough.

If the e-brake light flickers it means you need brake fluid, i had the same problem on my '95. refer to your manual it will tell you need brake fluid
