hello, I'm new in here. I just explain. I live in Poland (europe) and I'm dreeeaming of american car. My favourite so far is lincoln Mark VIII since its has the style and seems to be more reliable. The realities in Poland are: fuel is expensive (how much does the Mark8 really consume), parts !! am I going to wait 5 weeks for everything if something is wrong with my car? (but I am aware - still want to have one Mark8 :) and of course how often is something wrong with it. I realize it is not a new car. What I need is Your honest opinions. Excuse if my english is not very good. Thanks in advance. I hope my "problem" is not too general.

Pound for pound, the Lincoln will probably get better mileage than anything European. It depends, of course on how you drive. Lots of start and stop with a car this heavy will use lots of gas, but on highway the car cruises so easy and has such good American electronics that it's a gas sipper. I have a MK VII that gets 20+ mpg on highway, probably up to 24-25 on long cruise. My 87 BMW 535is only weighed about 3,300 pounds and didn't do any better. And the Lincolns are very reliable.I've driven MK VIII's and they are SWEET! Yes, you'll probably have to wait for parts; I don't know what Ford's distribution is in Poland, but it's probably not that bad. One other thing: hold out for the LSC, that's the real deal, and in the long run will be less expensive to own. Good luck.

The Mark gets about 18mpg in the city and 25 on the highway. (I cannot covert to Liters per Kilometer, sorry) smile.gif
In reality it is just as good as smaller cars with smaller engines, as its gearing is very tall and efficient.
The Mark needs premium (91-93 octane) fuel but you can also use 87 octane in it with no problems. The car will be slower with 87 octane, but its not a big problem.

thanks very much
from my counting looks like
18mpg - is about 13.5L/100km
25mpg - is about 9L/100km
sounds good, in fact I heard from advisors telling me that Americans consume tons of fuel - Now I'm really sure they said this because they're just jealous about Lincolns and they just dream about Them in secret :))
about octane I put another post because it is veeery strange...
