Mark'd Man

A couple of weeks ago, my 93 Mark VIII developed a starting problem. The engine tries to turn over, but will not start. I've owned the car for a little more than a year, and it has been extremely reliable. The car, which has 120,000 miles on it, has not been exhibiting any obvious indicators (check engine lights or strange noises)of an impending problem.
The battery is fine, the emergency fuel cutoff switch in the trunk does not appear to be causing a problem. Replacing the electronic fuel pump allowed me to drive trouble free for about five days. Yesterday, I attempted to start the car and it seemed to be fine. However, as I stepped on the accelerator, the engine stumbled slightly and then cut off.
I've checked fuses under the hood and in the passenger compartment. The fuel pump replacement was an expensive trial and error sequence... Does anyone have an ideas about a possible solution? I'm stumped....
