Hello,

By now you've gathered that I have a 95 Viii. Yesterday on the way home from work I saw a 98 and realized that they have those cool blueish headlights.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how much work it would be to change my 95's lights to 98's.
I think they look cool.

There's only two three things I can see standing in the way.

1. How are the wired. Do they take a special voltage or something, like a flourescent ballast?

2. How do they mount? Is it the same as these lights?

3. Do the burn hotter and could the plastic be in jeopardy?

Thanks for all the Help,

Avu.

I have a '93 MK VIII, and became interested in replacing my lights when I found the following site-
http://www.osramsylvania.com/aboutus/pressrel/press/pr29.htm

The problem with using the 97/98 is the entire header panel and hood were remodeled. However, in 96 the first LSC model was introduced with the first generation body style (I believe). A different option from the standard '96 Mark was the headlights, as stated in the enclosed URL. I have only seen pictures of the '96; I'm not sure if it was the "LSC" model or a mistake, but they look the same up front. If the '96 LCS HID lamps fit in the first generation header, my visibility problem is solved! The next question, if the parts fit, what electrical modifications are then required? I intend to find this out, as I have spent the last week looking for an answer. A visit to the local dealership will be in store. I'll let you know if I find anything. I hope to hear from someone out there who has already seen and or done it.

I had the blue 100 watt 9005 installed on my 93 Mark, the vision was impared 50 percent. I have heard some good input on the PIAA replacement hyperwhite, but am kinda schetchy on putting any blues on my car again, some local PD have a problem with them, they tend to attract attention eventhough the new generation, which I have not tried yet, are DOT legal. I do know that many people claim the higher wattage can melt the reflective insert or wires. The Luminarc of the 2nd gen Mark VIII is very expensive to convert from a 1st gen and the replacement cost of the Luminarc is costly. Best to stay with stock, but some of the hyperwhite might work better than the blue coated bulbs. It all depends on this, do you want to have better vision at night, or pretty headlights to look at? Regardless, its your decision, where you live, or if it is a lighted city area. Just my 2 cents.
