Hey ya'all. I have a bone stock 90LSC, and i have the opprotunity to pick up a motorsport B cam off a friend for a reasonable amount of money. My question is, I run one of these in my mass air Mustang, but do any of ya'all know how well it will work with SD? TIA

The stock cam is ideally matched to the stock heads and intake and all other OEM components that affect breathing. If you install that cam, the small power gain at high RPM will be more than offset by a major loss of lower RPM power. The car will likely accelerate slower and will be a real dog at part throttle around town. On top of all that, your fuel economy will drop and the car will likely hunt or stall when idling. A cam should be accompanied with heads, headers, intake, exhaust, MAF, bigger TB etc, etc.

I guess I should clarify. i have a set of fully ported E7's that were originally on my Mustang along with a Cobra intake that are no longer in use. These would be going on with the cam. My main question is, how well would this cam interact with Sd, due to the fact it has no MAF to compensate for the increased airflow it would end up having due to everyting else. It would also be getting a set of shorties, since they were replaced with longtubes on the Mustang. Or should I just bite the bullet and do a mss air conversion on it first? I am basically looking for the ride of the Lincoln, but with a little more oomph, just not as nasty as my Stang.

Ported heads and even a bigger intake are possible, but the ability of the SD computer to compensate for a cam varies. As you well know, SD is most sensitive to cam changes. Some get away with it, but most don't have decent streetability. An automatic is actually a plus because it tends to stabilize the RPM at idle with a poor mixture. You can squeeze about 280HP out of a normally aspirated 302 with OEM SD, but tuning for optimum fuel delivery can be a real challenge and a cam swap is not adviseable. If you insist on a cam swap, I'd convert to MAF and stand alone cruise and let the computer tune for ideal mixture with any configuration. A flexible 70mm+ MAF with flow tubes, used Mustang cruise module and remanufactured $100 Mustang EEC is not real expensive and will allow you to increase injector size & swap performance parts as you wish.

Save your money and put on a small 75 shot of N2O and be done with it. Thats twice the power you will gain with the cam and all that other stuff, and a whole lot easier and cheaper.
