my lsc gave up overdrive at 110,000. with the rest of the gears functioning fairly normally, i was able to coax another 20,000 miles out of it before 3rd started to slip. in the meantime, i've been attempting to find out just why the transmission failed so (relatively) early, and find that the clutch packs were weak in these overdrives. there is a place call baumann engineering that claims to have upgrades for this transmission. i have e-mailed them a few times but have gotten nothing back. anybody had any luck with their stuff? i think i may have found a place (hp motorsports, omaha, ne)that will do the upgrades, as most transmission shops just want to drop in their rebuilt junk with a 12 month, 12,000 mile warranty--whoopee. advice, please?

This is one of those areas that you just don't go cheap on (if you can help it). How much do you want to spend, I was looking at these guys for my next AOD. I'm thinking the Street Terminator looks good for the money. http://www.lentechautomatics.com/

I am running Baumann's stuff in my AOD and it was the best $$ spent so far on my SE.
I was able to CALL Baumann who told me they were not set up for credit card sales they reffered me to one of their local dealers(Steeda in my case) and the price was very reasonable and the help and instructions was very easy to follow if you should decide to do it yourself. As a sidenote Frank(HTRDLNCLN)
is running mid to low 12's on a stock AOD with only minor mods. ie. converter,Baumann shift kit and a BIG trans cooler.I went the additional route of adding the "A" overdrive servo off of a supercoupe and also converted to the later AODE 2" overdrive band I too am running the Baumann kit and a huge cooler.I am going to be using this trans behind a 347 soon so I will also add the converter I am waiting to do the gears first though. I hope this helped some.

thanks for the posts on baumann. i guess i'll be giving them a call to find out if there's someone that deals their stuff in my area.
as far as budget, i'd guess in the ballpark of a couple grand, as i was already planning on spending about $1500 on the drop-in rebuilt crud.
as far as which way i want to go with it, just looking for a really healthy overdrive, as mine gets used quite a bit at "highway" speeds for long periods, a crisper upshift, and faster downshift response to increased throttle would be nice.
thanks for the help, guys!
