I thought I'd mention a common problem and solution with Mark VII's. Many spill liquid into the mirror switch in the console for obvious reasons. This can cause the mirror switch to fail in certain modes like up or down etc. You can unscrew the console lock ring with pliers, remove the console cover and access the switch. Many Ford's use slightly different switch plugs and wiring. If the switch face and wire colors are the same it will work if you solder your old switch plug on a salvage yard switch out of almost any Ford. I paid $5 to fix mine.
