I need to replace the front struts on my 1990LSC. How difficult is it and does anyone out there suggest a brand and/or outlet? I work with a good mechanic who can install them if need be.

Steino, its really easy. I don't how mechaniclly inclined you are, but basically, if you put a jackstand under the lower control arm, and put the weight on it, its just like replacing the struts on anything else. Take out the 2 lower bolts, take off the top bolt, compress top of strut downward, pull out, thats it. But hey, if you can con your buddy into it, and not get your hands dirty.....ALL THE BETTER!

I have heard KYB is the best strut/shock for the Mark VII, currently being produced. Tokico and Koni produced better units for performance applications, but both are out of production. You may find leftover Tokico's somewhere since they were recently discontinued.

Do I need to support the air bag? I don't want to let it hang. Also, do I need to mark anything as a replacement position? I found some Tokico's @$113 each. Does anyone out there have some used Koni's?

As far as OEM, I know the originals were Tokico. However, they are not to be confused with the aftermarket Tokico's you found that have much more dampening for better performance. I don't know who the supplier is for the current Ford/Motorcraft unit.
