Before I pose my question, has anyone used an Actron cp9015 Code Scanner to try and pry ABS Fault codes from the ABS Control Module (Computer)??? If you have, then is there a single wire connector burried somewhere that I have not been able to locate?

I read the manual for the scanner, and it stated that other than the EEC 4 that controls engione functions, extra eec 4's may not have the "extra" single wire connector.

I plugged the scanner into the 6 sided diagnostic connector in the trunk, turned the ingition on (KOEO), and moved the switch on the scanner from hold to test and................................N O T H I N G !!!!!!!!!

The light was "ON" on the scanner, and when I moved the audio switch, it let out a steady beep, no intermitten beeps.

Does anyone have a clue out there. Not only have I noticed some gray hairs popping up on my head, but I'm also having trouble getting to sleep at night. This ABS problem is REALLY starting to bug me.....

Thanks for any responses....
John

PS: Did I mention it was 26 degrees outside when I did this???

John, I never saw a scanner used on the VII's ABS computer. Sounds interesting, but cold. What is the car doing or not doing?

The yellow "Anti-Lock" light is on. ABS is non-functional.

Used troubleshooting procedure without the "breakout box", and came up with a "service circuit 514"???, but not being satisfyed with that response (how in the heck do you service a circuit? is it the wire? is it internal in the ABS Computer????).

I decided to try to use a code scanner that a friend of mine has. It's a hand held actron for F/L/M that will analyze all EEC-4 computers. When I tried to get the codes out of the computer, I got nada, zilch, zero.

I REALLY don't want to pull the entire wiring harness apart to search for a broken or "bared" wire casing. Especially when the highest temp lately has been about 31 degrees. But I don't need to tell you about the cold weather, beings you are in Pittsburgh.

John,
Ckt 514 is an 18 gauge yellow wire with red tracer labeled "HI Signal" on the wiring diagram that goes from the ABS computer's plug on the rear seat frame in the trunk to the right-front wheel speed sensor. Only one other wire goes to that wheel speed sensor and it's a yellow wire with black tracer that also originates at the ABS computer plug, ckt 516 "LO Signal". Luckily, these wires go nowhere else, so the ckt is very straightforward to troubleshoot. There is a 2 wire connector near the wheel speed sensor mounted on the right front spindle. One of those two wires going to the ABS computer in the wiring harness may be bad or possibly there is metallic dirt buildup on the hall effect sensor at the wheel or the ABS disk on the rotor is rusted off or bent. I suppose you know how to test for loose or dirty connection or ground or open, to repair it. I'd say knowing the problem is ckt 514 is a great start. I'd clean all related components and verify wiring with ABS module plug disconnected and wheel sensor disconnected. If wiring and plugs are good & everything is clean, the wheel speed sensor or ABS module is probably bad & it's time for a salvage yard search. That's assuming the tester diagnosis was accurate. Good luck & nice tester, by the way.

Uhhh Yeah, Uhhh, DARN THESE BIFOCALS.....

It's Circut 512. NOT 514.

FLI Pin 1 Continuity to Ground = Service or replace Circut 512.

Sorry. Any Ideas???

Yea, I have an idea. Try promoting this site elsewhere instead of the other way around...and stick around. All kidding aside, ckt 512 is a tan / light green 18 gauge wire that goes from the fluid level sensor straight to the ABS computer in the trunk. It goes nowhere else and would be easy to bypass. I'd check the connector and sensor first.

Now Now LSCMAN. Just because the Pens are gonna get smoked in the first round of the NHL Playoffs, and spoil Mario's first year back, is no reason to get all salty like. j/k

I thought about the sensor, but the sensor itself is not grounding, and the and "put the probe in the connector" procedure tells me it's the harness. So, I'm going to do what I said, and "jump" out the waire with agood one, and see where that takes me.

If I ever see a Mark VII driving along with a wire sticking out of the hood and passing over the roof into the trunk lid crack, I guess it'll be you. Go, Go...gone Pens. Well Mario was fun anyway.

Just think...I could start a new trend! The wire sticking out of the hood look could mean boon times for wire producing companies. We could market it expressly to the rice community, and claim that by just having that wire between the hood, and deck lid, you can eliminate static buildup which means about 50HP for all Civics, Paseo's, and Subaru Justy's. Not available for Mitsu, Daewoo, and some Hyundai's....
