Hey guys how can i test my coils on my 2000 ls v-8.I think my # 7 coil, is missing i put new plugs in seemed a alot better now it seems to be lugging again.I bought some bosch plugs to replace the chapions i put in.But i want to test that coil with my meter.what ohm's value should i be getting on all the coils.Any help appreciated.socks66....

Your problem could be a coil. A somewhat common problem on high mileage 2000 LS V8's is that the cam cover gaskets leak a little oil. The oil then pools in the spark plug wells causing a secondary electrical path which burns out the coils.

I do not know what the resistance should be, but you can easily check this by comparing your #7 coil to the other coils on your engine.

If you want to know the exact resistance spec. I suggest you buy the service manuals or post a question on flatratetech.com.

And just to make a pre-emptive strike on your next questions:

NO, I do not know of any suitable coils other than the Motorcraft coils the LS comes with.

YES, there is supposed to be an updated cam cover gasket.

If you can disconnect each one of the coils 1 at a time then you can check to see if it doesn't work cause the engine will run different if the coil doesn't fire and it should but if it wasn't firing in the first place then there wouldn't be a difference. Do it one coil at a time there is a connector just before the coil disconect it then start the engine is there a difference connected ? not connected
