I had a system installed in my car on Thursday, and when they went to test everything out, they could not start the car. For some reason the alarm light is flashing quickly and won't stop. They called a locksmith and he plugged in the computer and the engine code says "Theft Detected, Engine disabled". I read in the manual about this condition and it says to bring it to the stealer, so after the locksmith gave it a shot and couldn't reset that code, it is at the stealer now. Their excuse is they need a "Real" Lincoln tech in order to fix it. Has anyone else ever had this happen and do you know the fix, cause it seems even my Linc dealer has no clue what it is. I can't stand this Linc dealer we have here, the last problem I had they kept my car for a week and im not old enough to rent a car, and that week it just happened to rain ALL week, so I couldn't ride my motorcycle either.

You say you had a "system" installed; is it an anti-theft system, or a remote start system? On later model Lincolns, there is an anti-theft circuit in line with the starter circuit. Many aftermarket remote start kits don't address this, and the car won't start after installation; you'll need the wiring diagram for your car to correct this problem. If it's an anti-theft system that you had installed, your best bet is to go with the Lincoln-engineered anti-theft system to avoid problems like this.

Whoops, I should have said what type of system. I had a stereo system installed, Alpine deck, and JL Audio everywhere else. Factory alarm system was not touched.

Nahh, its definatley not that either. The shop is owned by my brothers friend and they are known as one of the best in the state of Massachusetts. I just think it was something to do with disconnecting the battery to install the amp, then when the battery got plugged back in, because the doors were all open, the alarm started to go off when we put the key in. The only information I found online about that DTC code P1260 is "Using the proper key or remote or keyless entry to unlock the door will disarm the anti-theft system and enable fuel delivery to start the cehivle. Also check anti-theft system for DTC's". Another website also said, "Possible PAT's system failure when P1260 code is generated." The locksmith that first tried to fix it, was not able to reset the DTC codes because his software did not exactly match the car, so hopefully if my stealer knows what they are doing, they can reset the P1260 code and start her up. I still don't believe the service manager said to me, "We need a REAL tech to work on this issue." That dealer has lost all credability with me.

I'm having the same problem with mine since i installed my white gauges the airbag light keeps flashing and it won't start. I called the dealer they said they have to use some computer to tell the pats your car isn't being stolen if your dealer does't know how to fix it find someone else.they said its 1 hour labour to fix it.
