What kind of spark plugs work good in Lincolns?

I've heard that some spark plugs don't work well with certain vehicles, and so what plugs should I be using in my 5.0 engine? Mine had Champion plugs and I put the same back in because they were cheap, but I am beginning to wonder now.

I'm not necessarily talking about platinum or the splitfire variety, but if they work, I would like to know that as well.

Thanks!

The only time I have heard of plugs not working good with a particular engine is when platinum plugs are used with a waste-spark type ignition (DIS). Grand Nationals and late model 4 cylinder Mustangs are the only cars I know of that use this type of ignition (I'm sure there are others). FYI a waste-spark system fires one plug, the electrical charge travels to the next plug through the head (next cylinder in order for the GNs, the paired plug in the Mustangs), fires that plug and then returns to the coil. I don't know why they aren't good to use with DIS, just that I've heard (heard as in a rumor, you know how reliable those are) that they are.

Don't worry about what plug to use in the 5.0, any plug will work just fine. Don't use the new 4 prong platinum plugs that are available though. Consumer Reports tested them, and the only thing they have over standard platinum plugs is longevity. Not worth the price in my book.

Five liter cars are not very picky...just stay from the Splitfires, they are a WASTE! If you want the longevity of a platnium plug, go for any of them. If not, any plug will do.

My Continental (with EEC-III) is an absolute nightmare to pull the plugs, but noticed a big difference with just some $.89 plugs.

good luck!

Thanks for the replies!

When I mentioned problems with sparkplugs and certain engines I was referring specifically to Champion plugs and Chevy engines. A friend saw my new plugs after purchasing them and said they didn't work well in Chevys, but he doesn't know a lot about Fords/Lincolns and so he got me wondering.

Considering the difficulty of replacing plugs, I should have bought platinum plugs. I long for the good ol' days when there was plenty of elbow room in the engine compartment.
